To those affected by last weeks hack...

The ME/Limitbreak hack affected a lot of NFTs across the @truth ecosystem, including some of our biggest and most active community members.

Outside of a handful that @0xQuit was able to save, a lot of those stolen NFTs are now flagged on OpenSea and realistically aren’t recoverable.

So we’ve been thinking about what we *can* do.

Here’s the tentative plan:

For stolen Goblins, we change the art/metadata on those NFTs to basically say “stolen” / FU to the hackers, making the stolen versions worthless from an art and metadata perspective.

Then we’ll take Goblins from the Truth treasury, change their art and metadata to match the stolen Goblins, and send those replacement Goblins back to the people who were affected.

So effectively:

Stolen Goblin → art/metadata gets nuked.

Treasury Goblin → becomes the original Goblin and goes back to the affected holder.

There are some downsides. We’ll probably end up giving away a large part, if not all, of the Goblins in our treasury. And anyone who legitimately bought one of the stolen Goblins after the hack could end up holding an NFT with changed metadata. Most appear to be hackers or WETH offers, but if there are legitimate buyers, we’ll work with them to trade it back to the original holder in exchange for one in our treasury.

But I think the upside is worth it.

This was a terrible hack. The people affected didn’t do anything wrong, and many of them are some of the most passionate people in our community and in crypto generally.

We can’t recover everything they lost. But in this case, we actually have the ability to do something.

We’re going to start with @goblintown. If it works well, we’ll look at doing the same for @secretsociety, @the187, Grumpls, and others.

We may also try to buy back the stolen NFTs after their metadata has been changed, burn them, or potentially restore them later depending on what makes the most sense.

We’ll start rolling this out over the next few days. It is going to be a very manual process so bear with me.

Tikit Trade In Bonanza Begins Today

The @Goblintown and @Truth ecosystem Trade In System is now live!

Head to https://t.co/2emeOkTr0K and connect your wallet. The site will automatically scan your Goblintown and Truth ecosystem NFTs and show how many tikits each one is eligible for.

Eligible collections include Goblintown, IlluminatiNFT, McGoblin Burger, Big Inc, Big Inc Letters of Acceptance, aksessorees, PeePee Goblins, IlluminatiNFT Passes, and UnDAO.

Not eligible Grumpls, The 187, and any 1 of 1’s in any collection.

As announced on Friday, the key detail is that your tikit value is based on what YOU originally paid. Not the current floor. Your actual cost basis.

So, for example, if you spent a bunch of ETH in 2022 on a Favored pass that has a 20 dollar floor today, you can still trade it in for a mountain of tikits for a shot at a Gen 2 1 of 1.

Everything traded in will be burned. 100% of the items we receive. This will hopefully be the biggest ecosystem burn and supply lowering we have done so far!

A few important notes
• When you confirm a trade, approve the transaction and the it will pull your NFT into the master wallet. We then send tikits manually. We will fulfill trades throughout the day, minimum once every 24 hours, until the event ends.
• No NFTs will be burned until after the Shweepshtakes is fully complete. This gives us time to resolve any issues or bugs (and send back the NFT if you don’t get your tikits).
• ERC1155 NFTs are messy to track for the last sale price. Because of this, every 1155 shows “unreliable last price” and must be handled manually. DM us at @goblintown on X to initiate and we will send you instructions and a form to fill out (including asking for etherscan links, etc)
• Holders of Goblintown and Illuminati NFTs from BEFORE the contract migration are also messy to programmatically track for the last sale price. Because of this, every Gob/Mid that doesn’t have a “last sale price” on the current contract will show “We couldn’t estimate the last sale price for this NFT. Please contact us by sending a DM to @Goblintown on X with your interest if you’d like to trade in” and must be handled manually. Follow the directions by DM’ing @goblintown on X to initiate and we will send you instructions and a form to fill out (including asking for etherscan links, etc)
