As SEOs, we are too focused on optimising our website for ROBOTS:
🔸 Getting perfect scores in SEO audit tools
🔸 Building the right links
🔸 Targeting the right keywords
🔸 etc
This often leads to creating pretty bland websites, many of which look exactly the same.
But let's not forget about HUMANS too!
A perfectly optimised website can still be made..
🔸 Memorable
🔸 Personal
🔸 Entertaining
🔸 Unique
And this doesn't even require a ton of resources to pull off. Just a sprinkle of creativity here and there should do the job.

Just totaled the percentage of AI overviews based on the projects I'm tracking (across companies and queries). It's 14%, which is close to the 15% I documented when I first started tracking them. So not sure this has dropped to just 7% like BrightEdge says (which would be a huge drop... I'll keep tracking this over time and provide updates -> BrightEdge Data: Google AI Overviews only show for 7% of queries, a new low

How are domains this spammy influencing AI overviews? It's no wonder why Google is removing these.
They created PageRank to bring trust signals to the SERP and that is how they dominated, but they can't reward trusted sites for "Kim Scott Mathers" w/ 260k searches/mo.

We saw once client get a 205% increase after AI Overviews rolled out...while it is an outlier, it highlights that query by query and client by client is the way to analyze impact. Broad based studies might lead you astray.
