@DrLGarl and I just left this inspiring conference today. Thank you to @physicianhosp for organizing a truly delightful weekend. We feel energized and encouraged by our colleagues. There is something about shaking someone’s hand and hearing their story face-to-face that brings people together in a way we just can’t accomplish on X or online.
We are cheering on our fellow entrepreneurs, docs, policy experts and fellow *disrupters*. Thank you for allowing us to introduce @SelkirkCenter and our team @ECGcte DW Architects, of course @HeathVeuleman needs no introduction- and we will see y’all in our hometown next year!
*Thank you to @EPotterMD for a truly inspirational speech. I think the entire room was left reminded why this work is so sacred and what humanity, honesty, and the “golden rule” are all about.
@DutchRojas bring the cigars to Idaho we will bring the vino 😉
@noahkaufmanmd@DrBruggeman@DrDiGiorgio@DrBrian4Health@BKRBusinessMin@EverettBonnerMD@asbelmontes and I’m sure I’m forgetting others!
We couldn’t agree more: where a mother lives should never determine whether she can access high-quality maternity care.
In Idaho, this isn’t a theoretical problem. More than a quarter of Idaho counties are considered maternity-care deserts. Too many families live without adequate access to labor and delivery services close to home.
Telehealth, remote monitoring, and stronger care networks are important. But at some point, a mother still needs a place to safely deliver her baby.
While major hospital systems are closing rural labor and delivery units, our physicians aren’t waiting for someone else to solve the problem. They’re taking ownership & opening their own.
That is exactly why we are building Selkirk Center in North Idaho: new, physician-owned maternal healthcare infrastructure designed to expand obstetric and surgical capacity, recruit physicians and nurses, and bring high-quality maternity care closer to the families who need it.
Idaho has an extraordinary opportunity through the Rural Health Transformation Program to address not only the technology surrounding rural healthcare, but the fundamental shortage of people, places, and capacity to actually deliver care.
@DrOzCMS@CMSGov, @HHSGov, and Idaho leaders—come see what we’re building in North Idaho. We’d be proud to show you what rural health transformation looks like on the ground.

Olivia Walton and @HMHBAmerica convened @SLOTUS Usha Vance and Congressional leaders for a deep dive into America’s serious maternal health challenge. This still represents an area of information underload. We are the only wealthy country where maternal health has gotten worse over the past 40 years, now ranking 66th in the world behind Russia. Over 80% of deaths are preventable, with 2/3 happening after the baby comes home.
But we are beginning to see signs of hope. Through the $50B Rural Health Transformation Program, states are investing in maternal care closer to home—including telehealth, remote monitoring, stronger rural care networks, and new technology. And CMS’s Transforming Maternal Health (TMaH) Model now brings 15 state Medicaid programs together to improve maternity care and build more sustainable models for the future. The goal is simple: where a mother lives should never determine whether she and her baby can access high-quality, lifesaving care.
We couldn’t be more excited to have next year’s @physicianhosp Leadership Summit in our backyard. Idaho has tremendous opportunity for independent physicians and physician-led healthcare. We’re proud to be building here, a great place to showcase what physician independence can look like (and play a few rounds of golf 😉)!
Physician-led healthcare isn’t the future. It’s happening now. We are excited to be attending @physicianhosp Leadership Summit in Napa, CA working with like-minded individuals.
Disruption no longer unfolds over years. It happens in months and even weeks.
These five physician-led healthcare leaders are at the front of all of it.
Grateful to have them with us at PHA's 2026 Leadership Summit these next few days to explore where healthcare is headed.
25 years later, we remember.
Our founders @DrLGarl & @NicholeMyersDMD are in New York today, a powerful reminder that service, resilience, and caring for others are things worth carrying forward.
We remember. We honor. We never forget.

@BKRBusinessMin US healthcare has taken highly trained professionals, treated them like widget manufacturers, stripped away their autonomy, and micromanaged patient care. Patients don’t want a widget maker, though. They want a doctor.
This is exactly why we’re building The Selkirk Center.
Healthcare can be simpler, more transparent, and more personal. Physician-owned. Patient-centered. Built around mothers and babies, women of all ages and stages of life—not layers of administration.
And now, it’s becoming real in North Idaho.
The future of women’s healthcare starts here.

If you live in Eastern Washington, North Idaho, or Western Montana, you should be able to have your baby in a hospital owned by the doctors in the room.
Low-risk delivery, one price. $8,000. Prenatal through discharge. Published. No surprise facility fee.
Need a C-section? The price is just as transparent.
Employers can lock the rate for five years and cut the health plan out of the middle.
A menu by local Idaho farms and restaurants. Administration under 3 percent of the budget and under 1.5 percent of the floor. The rest of the building is for mothers, babies, and physicians.
The intermediaries did not create outcomes. They created invoices. Time to put the physician and the patient back in the same room.
Welcome to the future of healthcare!
