From what I remember, you can easily make your interface appear under a different MAC address, but the factory address remains in hardware. The unique tracking ID is created using a combination of the MAC address and other identifiers (SMBIOS tables, motherboard, etc.) which are hashed.
The difference is the size of the dragon you must fight. The outer dragons are the smaller ones; man-made and horrible, but deliverable. The inner dragons are the holy master's of breath and flame. The inner dragon demands death and rebirth. You may only track it by the footprints of fear.
The apprenticeship program I tried getting into only allowed 4-7 people a year (and was full of nepotism and DEI). I checked out another program and I couldn't even apply because of union laws. I don't know why people think apprenticeships are easy to get; they're almost impossible.
@Avonleebythesea I had to give away my Harvard Classics Library. I'm still sad about it. But now there's room for more of the Folio Society collection (*adjusts monocle*).
@SandyofCthulhu Just wanted to add, "Planet of Adventure" is the compilation of another series: City of the Chasch, Servants of the Wankh, The Dirdir, The Pnume. Each gets better and uncovers more of the different cultures on the planet.
Jack Vance is my favorite author. Checkout "Planet of Adventure" which I think is his best work. His books have been getting more rare and harder to find (like a lot of those books of the era). I think at one point someone created a Jack Vance dictionary from all the words he created in his novels.
@pensandpoison The luxury of reading is thoughtful discovery. Modern authors have turned into journalists, trying to explain topics instead of proving image and letting the feeling of poetry unwind the idea.
@FischerKing64 My college students all had handwriting that looked like 3rd graders. It's pitiful. They can't sign their names either. Really strange to me. I take pride in my handwriting but these folks don't see it as part of their presenting image.
@Gravantus Emil Pagliarulo absolutely sucks as a writer. He's one of Todd's friends, so he'll be with the company forever, but I think he's the reason why things have become so bad.
@Babygravy9 In the movie "Quest For Fire" a scene of significance at the end shows humans mating for the first time face-to-face. It shows the shift of a relationship into becoming more than procreation or instinct.
