This morning @StateIVLP visitors from Kyrgyzstan met with @CleanEnergyGrp to discuss the transition to a resilient, sustainable, clean energy future. #exchange
New favorite energy quote: '“These transitions are super-duper feasible,” Childs said of swapping in batteries for peaker plants that fire up as electricity demand is surging.' #phaseoutpeakers#batterystorage https://t.co/sIplzkkxb1
A new @CleanEnergyGrp report exploring #solar and #batterystorage for cooling centers can help communities prepare for next year's inevitable heat waves. https://t.co/rrhuLwlaIE
Can someone in Louisiana please explain to me how increasing water use by 55% and reducing energy output by 30% by slapping on carbon capture is going to improve the environment? #boondoggle#falsesolutions https://t.co/DOqwYRSG6A
Fantastic story of what a just energy transition can look like - rejecting gentrification for #CleanEnergy jobs and development of #OffshoreWind infrastructure @mariagallucci@UPROSE https://t.co/Np1NGMk9WW
@NYPAenergy found that it can marginally reduce CO2 emissions by burning a blend of #hydrogen with gas while still poisoning nearby communities at the same levels https://t.co/UuWTPEHJ4R #FalseSolutions
📢Huge Win! NRG has dropped their plan to build a new gas plant in Astoria, will retire the existing plant & sell the land under it to Beacon Wind, retiring fracked gas power in Astoria in favor of offshore wind! https://t.co/02vdfBn58K
I've said it before, and I'll say it again - private equity firms have become the bottom feeders of the energy world, propping up the worst of the worst fossil fuel infrastructure. @nysfocus@firstarai https://t.co/lG2KuIxCbh
Carbon isn't the only nasty thing coming out of power plants. This new report from @CleanEnergyGrp highlights the health impacts of gas peakers and how communities are fighting to replace them with clean alternatives. #Renewables#EnergyStorage#PhaseOutPeakers
Methane gas, the "cleanest" of fossil fuels, causes 70 times more deaths per TWh than #wind and 140 times more deaths than #solar. Note that these are conservative estimates based on power plants with modern pollution controls. @CanaryMediaInc

Ugh. The only way carbon capture is going to truly cut GHG emissions is if it effectively makes fossil power plants too expensive to build and too expensive to operate. #falsesolutions#CCSboondoggle
Get ready for a lot of talk about carbon capture. Last week's SCOTUS ruling makes CCS the most likely option for addressing CO2 from power plants.

#SCOTUS hobbled @EPA ability to broadly reign in power plant emissions in response to the #ClimateCrisis. Fortunately, states and communities have been leading the #CleanEnergy transformation and will continue to do so.
The Supreme Court sharply curtails the authority of the EPA to regulate greenhouse-gas emissions that cause climate change. In a 6-3 ruling, the court sides with conservative states and fossil-fuel companies in adopting a narrow reading of the Clean Air Act.
A part of me always dreamed of becoming a published author. Never expected it would happen like this. Thanks to everyone who made this book possible! #EnergyJustice
Note to @nexteraenergy CEO John Ketchum: burning hydrogen (even green hydrogen) produces deadly local pollution (also you realize that H2 is an indirect GHG right?). Burning hydrogen is not a zero-emission strategy. https://t.co/NSLWUepLdn
Great that Rhode Island has committed to 100% #renewables but it's important to remember that buying RECs does not eliminate GHG emissions or local sources of pollution. Buying offsets and carbon trading often do little to advance #EnergyJustice.
Rhode Island is poised to go 100% renewable by 2033. Would be first to go all renewable. (States like WA & NM are 100% clean.) Faster transition than any other state.
But... Rhode Island is still likely to be consuming fossil fuels for power in 2033.
