During Parliamentary Elections 2024, I had the honour to participate with the Maverick @PiyushGoyal himself!
I had the chance to work on community outreaches, content strategies, increasing and mitigating voter turnout as well as meet @DrSJaishankar and @AshwiniVaishnaw ji
This is big: all access to Mythos and Fable AI models disabled for everyone outside America.
First thoughts:
1. Technology is the ultimate weapon. National sovereignty, national security, all of it is now about technology.
2. Globalization is dead and Bharat must find her own way ahead.
We must keep these two ideas in mind.
What can our government do right now? Ensure that orgs in India embrace smaller models, both Indian and Chinese open source ones. With a bit of effort, we can make them work. Anyway, why pay money to people who don't even want to sell to you?
We must deepen our R&D. Sarvam has been on it and we have been on it but remember that the latest models cost not only huge GPU budgets to train, the GPUs themselves are restricted. So we can't afford the scale of money (of the order of $100+ billion to even get in the game!) and even if we could come up with the money, we can't get all the GPUs. I would not like to ask the government to fund tens of billions of dollars on this anyway - the money has far better uses.
Zoho has been pursuing alternative R&D approaches that are far, far less expensive but by its nature cutting edge R&D takes time and we are patient. I am confident we will get there.
Any remaining people in India who have delusions about globalization should wake up now.
Jains - the real minority who never beg for special treatment, never play the victim card, never create trouble for anyone, contribute immensely to the economy, generate jobs, and live peacefully.
If they seem like a problem to you, perhaps the problem lies with you.
An infographic tabulating 26 indicators over the last 12 years has been going viral - I verified the data and benchmarked these indicators against a 7% real GDP growth rate, and 20 out of 26 held up.
India has indeed done very well to grow through a period of geopolitical, macroeconomic and domestic political economy crises and pushes. Even so, in key areas such as transportation (including ports and airports) and energy (especially coal production - which is a travesty because India has vast coal reserves), growth has been below target or just about sufficient.
But what would it take to grow output at 10% a year - the elusive double digit growth number? The numbers spell out that massive policy reforms and liberalization will be required.
12/12. So when Europe's microphones ask why the world should trust India, the answer is simple:
That is the wrong question.
The right one is, has Europe spent the last 500 years giving the world any reason to trust it?
India rose without exploiting.
Europe rose by exploiting.
India shared without a patent.
Europe locked its knowledge behind cost.
India built on limited resources.
Europe built on the resources of every continent it touched.
𝑾𝒉𝒚 𝒔𝒉𝒐𝒖𝒍𝒅 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒘𝒐𝒓𝒍𝒅 𝒕𝒓𝒖𝒔𝒕 𝑬𝒖𝒓𝒐𝒑𝒆?

Views invited, let the transformative debate begin.
THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE EAST AND WEST IN ONE FRAME.
Ian Baruma wrote a whole book about it.

CIVILIZATIONAL POWERS LIKE INDIA AND CHINA who draw from the well spring of ANCIENT DHARMA that seeks harmony between human ambition, nature, and universal values NOT just the PURSUIT of raw POWER.
Industrialization can never be the goal
Industrialization is the tool, to achieving Technological, Economic and overall sovereignty
The goal is what matters!
So, just this week -
->@SkyrootA got funded for 60 MILLION USD.
->@SarvamAI and @PixxelSpace announced their partnership for sending literal data centers to space.
->@ArmoryShield got a 100 CRORE contract from Indian army.
->@GalaxEye launched the world's first OptoSAR satellite.
And many more that might have not shown on my TL. Indian startup eco-system is winning all over the place, and I simply love to see it.
Trust me, if you are an engineering student, find and join these companies. Build tech that'll outlast you, and attempt to create something beautiful!
A year ago, our armed forces displayed unparalleled courage, precision and resolve during #OperationSindoor. They gave a fitting response to those who dared to attack innocent Indians at Pahalgam. The entire nation salutes our forces for their valour.
Operation Sindoor reflected India’s firm response against terrorism and an unwavering commitment to safeguarding national security. It also highlighted the professionalism, preparedness and coordinated strength of our armed forces. At the same time, it showcased the growing jointness among our forces and underlined the strength that India’s quest for self-reliance in the defence sector has brought to our national security.
Today, a year later, we remain as steadfast as ever in our resolve to defeat terrorism and destroy its enabling ecosystem.
We are investing in foundational technologies across the board: recently in quantum sensing, advanced materials, and soon metallurgy. I am a big proponent of metallurgy R&D in particular. Without it, we cannot build nail cutters or precision machinery or jet engines.
These are not flashy billion dollar investments to make headlines, they are foundational R&D that cost millions a year, stretched out over many years. The key is to SUSTAIN them for a decade or longer. Scientists and engineers need time and rock solid support.
We also don't aim for prestige, we want to first replicate know-how already there.
We have also been looking to partner with small Japanese companies with critical know-how. I have two fluent Japanese speakers with me now!
While world is realising that 'Its the Young that Keep the economy going'
India would soon realise 'Its the change in economy that would keep our young going'
Unless for a reformative change in how were do products, service and more. Our demographic dividend can become a bane
In the 1990s, India was facing a Biological Colonization. If Dr. R.A. Mashelkar had not stepped in, we might have ended up paying a royalty to a US corporation every time we used turmeric on a wound/exported Basmati rice.
In 1997, a Texas-based company called RiceTec was granted a patent by the USPTO (US Patent & Trademark Office) for Basmati Rice lines & grains. They claimed they had invented a superior strain of rice. Mashelkar realized that if this patent stood, Indian farmers would be barred from selling their own rice under the name Basmati in the US. It was a theft of Geographical Intellectual Property.
He did not just shout Injustice. He assembled a team to find Genetic Fingerprints. They proved that the new rice was actually derived from Indian germplasm that had existed for centuries. The USPTO was forced to strike down the majority of the claims.
2 researchers at the University of Mississippi were granted a patent for the use of turmeric in healing wounds. To a Western patent officer, this was a novel invention. To an Indian, it was something their grandmother did every day. Mashelkar produced an ancient Sanskrit text as Prior Art. The USPTO demanded a translation. He provided evidence from the Journal of the Indian Medical Association dating back to 1953 + ancient Ayurvedic texts.
This was the 1st time in history that a patent granted to a US entity was successfully challenged & revoked based on the Traditional Knowledge of a developing country.
Mashelkar also realized that India could not fight 10000 legal battles every yr. He needed a Scalable Solution. Patent officers in the West were not malicious; they were just Data Blind. They could not read Sanskrit/Tamil/Persian. If a discovery was not in an English journal, it did not exist in their system.
He hired 100s of experts (Ayurveda practitioners, IT engineers, & Patent lawyers). They took 500000+ formulations & converted them into a digitized Shloka to Code format. The data was rendered in English, French, German, Japanese, & Spanish.
Today, India has signed agreements with the USPTO, the European Patent Office, & others. Before an officer grants a patent, they run a TKDL Scan. If the herb/method is in the library, the patent is rejected instantly.
Venugopal: i have taken instructions the tinthakars are embodiment of perfection in terms of how they have lived their lives by the jain idols in general of physical and material pursuits. when you reach that level of perfection, then you are https://t.co/4U4WzGsLf9 other words, humans who have attained the status of divinity and therefore worshipped as gods and not as creator gods.
what has been articulated till now is the general view that there may be imperfection and there may be problems in the manner in which a religion worships and conducts itself. and the remedy lies in state intervention. I am opsing an opposite view that is, in fact, that state intervention in religion has actually resulted in the introduction of politics into religion, which corrupts both the state and the religion.
A must read article on Sabarimala case by a revered Jain Sadhu. It has deep implications for the religious soverignty of Indic faiths which do not invade other faiths like Abrahamic faiths do. This is extremely crucial for dharmic faiths

#19. Every religion has the right to express and practice its beliefs.
But responding with intolerance or aggression towards others is neither justified nor sustainable.
Co-existence is the foundation of civilisation.
