What will it take for those in the government to understand the agony and hopelessness that our aspiring youths are facing? What will make them understand that this is suffocating an entire young generation and pushing them to walls? Doesn’t even today’s case in Vaishno Devi University about the students with merit open their eyes and feel the urgency to resolve this matter and give some relief to our youth?
Last year they said 6 months. Those 6 months have turned into a year. Few weeks ago before Budgam Assembly election they said few days without letting anyone know whether they have resolved the issue or not. Those few days are now turning into more than a month.
Now even if they solve this issue sometime in future, which I think is unlikely, what will compensate the years they have already lost and the vacancies which are already gone?
Is this about personal egos? Is this entire generation being punished because I have been speaking for them? Alright, I will pull myself out of this issue for a month. Meet the students, resolve the issue rationally, take them to your fold. Curse me and turn them against me, but please resolve this issue which is about their careers.
And if after the conclusion of this Parliament session on the December 20th this issue is not resolved. I will sit with them again the way we did the last December. And this time it will not be for a day only.

A SCIENTIFIC AND STATISTICAL ANALYSIS OF RESERVATIONS

I have filed an application under the RTI to get some data.

That would provide a statistically scientific basis to evaluate the
damage inflicted upon Kashmiri speaking ethnic group due to reservations.

So what the data we need is as follows:-

1) We need data on actual merit in an examination held for recruitment. We need data on last ten recruitment examinations.
Which means that we produce actual marks scored by the candidates and prepare a merit list without applying reservations.

2) Next we get the actual selection list.

3) The difference between a merit list without applying reservations and a merit list after applying reservations give us the exact damage inflicted upon the Kashmiri speaking ethnic group.

The last ten lists is a sample. We can add more lists to get a statistically significant figure evaluating the extent of damage.

If the government does actually come up with anything we will apply that new reservation system to the last ten recruitment lists released by the government and see whether it changes anything or make matters worse for Kashmiri speaking ethnic group.

Now this is a scientific procedure. Let us end all debates and decide things purely on scientific basis. And apply remedy on scientific basis.

And let us separate votes from the future of our youngsters. Let dreams not be massacred at the altar of votes.

RESERVATION

Mark my words. If any report is released by the current government — the Kashmiri speaking population will take a hit yet again.

The only solution as I had posted earlier is that the government resumes district recruitment for non gazetted posts and provincial recruitment for gazetted posts.

List after list is being released by the recruitment authorities. And what we have been saying all along stands statistically endorsed.

In the list for Junior Assistants released recently out of 26, only 5 are from Kashmir. This is now a rule not an exception.

The reservation issue is a regional issue systematically designed to exclude the inhabitants of Kashmir region.

Unless and until we do not call a spade a spade this curse on our youngsters will not go away on its own.

Playing the middle ground and mixing votes with reservations will wreak havoc.

The numbers in the recruitment lists are not lying.

Our silence is a lie.

RESERVATIONS

I have all along maintained that the government is clueless on reservations and has no intentions of doing anything.

Now coming to this draft proposal. To the best of my knowledge anything sent to cabinet should be vetted by the law department. It is not the other way round.

You can’t send something to cabinet which is outside the domain of law.

It looks like another round of time wasting tactics.

And 30 seats for open merit compared to 45 reserved.

If government is serious about a change they would have waited for the sub committee report.

They haven’t. And I am not surprised.
