The news of the passing of His Majesty, Omukama Oyo Nyimba Rukidi IV, has been received with shock and extreme sadness.
I received the news from Omuhikirwa of Tooro, Calvin Armstrong Rwomiire last evening, and I immediately informed His Majesty Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II, who was saddened by the demise of the young monarch (34 years).
The Kabaka urges the people of Tooro to stand together during this period of grief. The Kingdom of Buganda stands with the people of Tooro, and all Ugandans, during this sad moment.
May the Lord receive King Oyo's soul. CPM
I held onto the thread of hope that you still be with us for much longer, but it wasn't to be. You were a King, His Majesty, but you remained humble and down to earth.
Thank you for the friendship from the time I met you when you were still a young lad studying in the UK, and through the years up to the end.
I will hold onto those precious memories of the joys, laughters and stories in London, Tooro, Kabale Kampala and New York and all other places.
Condolences to the Royal Family, the Kingdom and all those who knew and loved you.
You lived a short but very impactful life.
We join the Tooro Royal Family, the people of Tooro and the nation at large in mourning the passing of His Majesty Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV.
May his soul rest in peace.
