If you're thinking about healthcare spending in the US, one fact worth noting
About 9% of healthcare spending goes to physician compensation
Another 9% goes to nurses
Yes, doctors and nurses get paid more in the US than they do in other countries and yes, a small proportion of physicians really do get paid a lot
But I've never thought we're going to solve our healthcare spending by going after physician and nursing salaries
Not enough there -- and slashing physician or nursing compensation would be a great way to demoralize the core of the US healthcare workforce

Extremely disappointed that GOP CR doesn’t include Doc Fix and thus fails to protect Medicare patient access.. should be fixed before final vote @SpeakerJohnson@RepGregMurphy
Fact. Democrats do not want the Doc Fix because they want to push everyone into a single payer system. Fortunately I spoke with the Trump Transition Team and have assurances it will be included in the March CR INCLUDING a retrospective reimbursement.
I am excited to attend this meeting and speak on a panel with two incredible surgeon advocates. Maryland surgeons should definitely plan to attend this fantastic meeting.

It's always an honor to collaborate with the amazing @leahbackhusmd. In this @AmCollSurgeons Bulletin article, we address the question:
💡Why examine leadership through the lens of gender❓

@RepLarryBucshon has been a great friend to doctors and patients. He is right ... not stopping these cuts is a slap in the face to our nation's doctors.
I guess Obamacare DiSH payment cuts to hospitals is delayed in the CR but the CMS 3.37% conversion factor cuts to doctors is not. Another slap in the face to our nation’s providers. It is shameful that Congress is allowing this to happen. I’m a NO on the CR if it isn’t fixed.
Congratulations to Dr. Henri R. Ford (@HenriFordMD) for officially assuming his role as ACS President! We look forward to his leadership in the coming year. #ACSCC23
What’s missing is these policy recommendations to congress have largely driven private practices out of business. Hospital systems run medical practices at a loss, but are able to cross-subsidize physician salaries by making a profit on the inpatient side while securing high margin referrals, ancillaries etc. Yet in the end, consolidation costs the system more overall. MedPAC’s rationale is siloed & flawed and has created/perpetuated this problem.
I learned 1st hand critical role of nurses When you need surgery .. will a surgeon be there? Agree with Boston Globe editorial board - we need “sustained focus on addressing conditions that cause clinician burnout.”https://t.co/uvDjPGNKge via @BostonGlobe
