Atheists love pointing to horrors like the Holocaust as proof God cannot exist. But before we ask why God didn't stop the Holocaust, let’s ask a smaller question: why didn't God stop Cain from killing Abel?
If you want to put God on trial for human evil, start where evil actually erupts in Scripture.
Before looking into Cain, the upstream question is simple: why would a good God even create beings who, left to themselves, are capable of monstrous cruelty?
To create a creature capable of genuine moral beauty, that creature must possess the terrifying headroom to fall. You cannot create a being capable of authentic love and righteousness without giving that being the real power to refuse those things.
A programmed machine is not loving anyone, it is merely executing code. The exact capacity that allows a man to lay down his life for a friend is the exact same capacity that allows him to pick up a stone and murder his brother. Evil is not a tangible substance God manufactured. It is the deliberate turning away of a creature's will from the source of life.
So how does God actually deal with that first evil?
He does not remain silent. Before a drop of blood is spilled, God confronts Cain directly: “sin is crouching at your door, and you must rule over it.”
This is how God confronts human evil: He hardwires moral knowledge into conscience. Deliberate evil requires actively suppressing an internal alarm we already know is ringing.
An atheist will still ask: why didn't God physically step in and stop the murder?
What are you actually asking God to do? Paralyze Cain’s arm mid-swing? Turn the stone into air? Mechanically delete his ability to carry out the act?
The moment God overrides physical consequences whenever our intentions turn dark, moral reality collapses into a cartoon. Human choices are stripped of all weight.
More importantly, where should God draw that line? Murder? Theft? Slander? The quiet malice in our own minds? If God eliminated evil by force, He couldn't stop at Cain; He would have to eliminate all of us. People don't want God to abolish evil; they only want Him to abolish the evil of other people.
Then look at Abel.
Abel walked faithfully with God, yet he ended up dead in the dirt. To secular eyes, this looks like an embarrassing defeat. Did Almighty God fail to protect the man He endorsed?
Only if you assume reality ends at the cemetery.
Cain had the power to destroy Abel’s physical body, but he had zero power to destroy Abel. God did not lose His friend.
Physical death is not terminal oblivion; it is the relocation of an eternal soul from one room of God's reality into another.
Yet God never dismisses the murder. He tells Cain that Abel’s blood cries out to Him from the ground. Injustice is real, and the blood of the innocent demands an answer.
Instead of answering with a lecture from the clouds, God stepped straight into the dirt of history Himself when humanity followed Cain. In Christ, God took on human flesh and became the target of that exact same human malice. He was falsely accused, betrayed, and executed on a Roman cross.
God did not shield Himself from the violence of the world. He absorbed the absolute worst of it into His own body, and then broke the power of death by walking out of the grave on the third day.
The Christian answer is not that God should turn us into robots to prevent every Cain. It is the assurance that while Cain is allowed to swing his stone on earth, he never gets the final verdict.
Abel’s blood cried out from the soil for vindication, but Christ’s blood answers for eternity. God does not prevent evil by destroying our agency; He enters our suffering, shoulders our guilt, and redeems everything our violence tried to destroy.
Protecting Every Vote. Winning 2027. Together.
My fellow Nigerians at home and abroad,
Over the past months, wherever I go and in your many messages, two questions keep coming up: How will our votes be protected in 2027? And how will we win?
These are fair questions, and you deserve direct answers.
This Sunday, I will answer you directly, and more importantly, listen to you. I will join you for A New Nigeria Global Digital Townhall. We will speak plainly about protecting every vote and the path to victory.
But this is not only about speaking to you. It is about listening to you. I want to hear your concerns, your insights and your strategies. This movement has always been built by you, and your ideas will shape what we do next.

Why don’t I tell you about some things that His Excellency @PeterObi did as Governor of Anambra. I supported the Nigerian Governors Forum to put in place the world’s first sub-national peer review mechanism. Gov Peter Obi volunteered to be reviewed first. This is what we found…
I arrived a bit late for my flight in Abuja this afternoon because of an unusual roadblock mounted by the military and the police in anticipation of Tinubu’s return.
I just arrived in Lagos and this is the kind of madness that is going on at the Lagos airport.
How can the busiest airport in the commercial capital of a country be put on lockdown for hours because an absentee President is on his way back to the country.
The whole of Lagos will be on lockdown for a man whose disastrous regime has ushered in nothing but terrible policies, mass poverty and corruption.
Bayo Onanuga announced that Tinubu will be landing in Lagos later in the evening.
Why subject citizens and foreigners to this long horrendous treatment when Tinubu’s plane is not even on the ground yet?
Is this the best way to protect him?
Is there no better way to manage presidential movement in this country?
Only God knows when I’ll get to my destination today.
I’m so disgusted.
Update: President Mahama of Ghana has REJECTED the U.S. Health deal proposed to replace USAID, worth $109M 🇬🇭❌
“It is humiliating. Why will you want our health record and pathogen profile? And say we’re not allowed to inspect any medicine you give us. We threw the compact away so quickly. I’ve never seen anything thrown out that fast. Ghana will continue to manage its health needs. We’d find other ways for bilateral relations.”
— President John Mahama speaking at the Council on Foreign Relations in New York on Friday, 25th September.
Ghana joins Zambia, Namibia and a few African countries that have rejected the new USAID compact.
However, Giant of Africa reportedly signed it in December 2025, five months before the deadline, and weeks after it was proposed.

@BrainiacGfx I wish you can tell me that in all of your career, you have never taken inspiration or “copied” concepts from pinterest, behance or any other design platform.
Sharing some political design work I’ve been exploring lately for the incoming President of Nigeria, Mr. @PeterObi.
I didn’t want to approach these with the regular political design style.
So I brought in a bit of visual storytelling, minimalism and of course, my unique touch✨
“A lot of people might be confused by this video. I just want to use this video to tell you that Jesus is real. There’s nothing He can not do. Do not wait to have a problem before acknowledging Him.”
