How do we prevent GBV? https://t.co/c7NDd3usug, shares some interesting lessons on this from #TheTotalShutDown & the process following this protest movement in South Africa
💢🇺🇳 NEW: A UN Commission of Inquiry has concluded that “Israel continues to commit genocide and other atrocity crimes by deliberately targeting Palestinian children,” finding Israeli authorities and security forces have committed genocide, crimes against humanity, and war crimes in Gaza, as well as war crimes in the occupied West Bank.
➡️ The commission found the deliberate targeting of children is “one of the key elements establishing genocidal intent” and said Israel is pursuing “a deliberate strategy to destroy the future of the Palestinians in Gaza by targeting their children.”
➡️Among its findings, the commission said Israel has:
🔹 “Deliberately shot children in vital organs using precision weapons”
🔹 Attacked homes, schools, displacement camps, and neonatal and maternity care centers, harming newborn survival and Palestinians’ reproductive future
🔹 Used starvation through blockade and siege, causing child deaths and severe malnutrition
🔹 Arrested, tortured, and subjected Palestinian children to sexual violence in detention
🔹 Destroyed healthcare, orphanages, and education, obstructing children’s cognitive, social, and emotional development and undermining the foundations of Palestinian society
During a 38-minute White House press appearance, reporters asked President Trump about 28 different topics (per Drop Site’s count), but once again failed to ask a single question about the two ongoing genocides the United States is actively facilitating: in Gaza and in Sudan.
◾️In Gaza, at least 15 Palestinians were killed over the weekend, including 17-year-old high school student Raghad Ashour, a 51-year-old mother of six, Al Jazeera photojournalist Ahmed Samir Washah, and children including a 4-year-old girl, an 8-year-old girl, and a 14-year-old girl.
◾️In Sudan, the U.S. State Department warned today that “there are alarming indications that mass atrocities could be imminent,” around El Obeid in North Kordofan, “further worsening Sudan’s already catastrophic humanitarian crisis.” The statement called on the RSF and allied groups to halt their offensive, but again did not name or call on the UAE, the RSF’s principal foreign backer and a $500 million investor in the Trump family’s crypto venture, to take any action.
🔹Topics covered included: quantum technology, executive orders, computing, quantum cryptography, Google, IBM, Iran, sanctions relief, Iranian oil, U.S. farmers, the Strait of Hormuz, Lebanon, Benjamin Netanyahu, JD Vance, Marco Rubio, Keir Starmer, UK energy, North Sea oil, NATO, defense contractors, weapons production, Colombia’s election, Reflecting Pool vandalism, crime, immigration, Chicago, and Operation Midnight Hammer.
Israel’s Ministerial Committee on Legislation has advanced a draft bill that would bar graduates of the medical faculties of Al-Quds and An-Najah Universities from practicing medicine in Israel.
The explanatory memorandum is troubling, for what it does not say. It does not allege deficiencies in academic standards. It does not question the competence of Palestinian citizens of Israel who graduate from these institutions. Rather, it asserts that exposure to expressions of support for terrorism renders such graduates morally incapable of providing impartial medical care.
As a medical professional who has worked alongside physicians trained at both universities, I have seen no evidence to support such a claim. I have encountered competent, dedicated professionals committed to the ethical obligations of medicine, treating patients without distinction as to nationality or political belief.
As an international lawyer, I reject legislation founded on collective political prejudice and racial discrimination. A measure that excludes individuals because of where they studied and who they are presumed to be, breaches the most basic principles of equality before the law.
Israel remains a party to the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination which requires States Parties to prohibit and bring to an end racial discrimination "by any persons, group or organization", including through legislation. Laws that single out a particular national group for adverse treatment, absent any individualized assessment, are impossible to reconcile with that obligation.
The issue is not medical competence. The bill itself concedes as much. The issue is whether a State that alleges commitment to the international rule of law can lawfully presume bias or moral deficiency on the basis of national origin and educational affiliation. International law gives a clear answer. It cannot.
Today, HHS launched a historic department-wide effort to strengthen America’s clinical research enterprise and ensure the next generation of medical breakthroughs is developed right here in the United States. Under President Trump’s leadership, we are accelerating innovation, expanding research capacity, and ensuring lifesaving discoveries are made in America.
That time Amy Goodman and I interviewed Alan Greenspan about:
- The failure of trickle down economics
- His role creating the 2008 financial collapse and the oligarch class
- His support for the invasion of Iraq and of shock therapy in Russia
He was pissed. https://t.co/8KTjUT60IH
🇺🇸🏛️ Rep. Ro Khanna is challenging Elon Musk to a televised debate after the billionaire called for him to be sued and jailed over criticism of DOGE’s dismantling of USAID.
🔹 The exchange began after Khanna cited a study estimating USAID cuts could contribute to millions of child deaths.
🔹Musk replied, “Time to sue this liar,” later adding, “Liars… like Ro the Robber should be in prison!!”
🔹Khanna told CNBC: “I challenge him to a debate … do it on CNN, do it on CNBC, do it at a university, he can pick the setting and let’s debate what happened at DOGE, let’s debate why I’m for a wealth tax. We can have a conversation of ideas if he believes in free speech and free expression about these issues.”

- Cases are holding steady at 13, including three deaths.
We’re closing in on ending this outbreak.
Huge thanks to Captain Jan Dobrogowski and crew members of MV Hondius for their leadership in keeping passengers safe.
And deep appreciation to Spain, the Netherlands, Cabo Verde, South Africa and the UK for their critical role in the response.
@Rebecca21951651 is an anonymous scientist who has been posting important FOIA'd documents and scientific evidence pertaining to COVID origins for years now. Her suspension is total BS, and I hope her account is restored quickly.
I learned a lot from her. She helped inspire me to speak up, and to start studying biomolecular engineering to become a more helpful voice in the future. I don't agree with her 100% of the time, but she's been a helpful and important voice on these issues. It's sad to see X punish good people like her.
Boris Johnson posed for a photo with a British soldier who went on to fight in Gaza.
Sam Sank, from Stanmore, served 114 days in the Israeli army there.
On the 58th day of the war he wrote of Palestinians:
"we cannot trust these animals and it's time to start pummelling them again."
Of his final week: "anyone caught in our sights was neutralised in what is effectively a death zone."
He is one of 2,069.
In February 2026 Declassified UK obtained Israeli military data.
1,686 British-Israeli dual nationals served in the IDF during the genocide in Gaza.
Plus 383 more with British, Israeli, and at least one other nationality.
The Foreign Office confirmed it does not collect this data.
In April 2026 the Met closed its file on ten of those British nationals.
Without investigating one of them.
Sank kept his passport.
A former Prime Minister had shaken his hand.
Now meet Tauqir Sharif.
Born in London.
Went to Syria in 2012.
Built an aid organisation employing nearly 200 people.
In 2017 the Home Office stripped his British citizenship.
They told him only that it was "conducive to the public good."
He says he was given no evidence to challenge.
"The only country I have ever known is the UK," he wrote.
Now stranded with his wife and five children.
He has never been charged.
He has never been convicted.
Declassified UK and the ICJP have opened a public letter to Shabana Mahmood and Yvette Cooper.
Track Britons who fought for Israel.
Screen them at the border.
Investigate them in line with the law.
Over 60 lawyers, genocide scholars, veterans and politicians have signed.
The letter is now open to the public.
Tomorrow, Monday 22 June at 4.30pm, Westminster Hall debates e-petition 752646.
A public call for a formal inquiry into pro-Israel lobbying influence on UK politics and democracy.
Over 117,000 people signed it.
The government said it would not support one.
The debate will be broadcast live on the UK Parliament YouTube channel.
Thousands fought.
One delivered aid.
The state already decided which Briton was the threat.
Tomorrow parliament has been asked to explain why it still won't look.

#Ebola update: more than 1000 confirmed cases have been reported in #DRC, including 254 deaths. 100 patients have recovered so far, which shows that for many, the virus can be stopped with timely health care.
In the past month, @WHO, @AfricaCDC and partners have supported @MinSanteRDC to increase the number of Ebola Treatment Centres and lab and surveillance capacities, to train more health workers on clinical care and infection prevention and control, and to improve the understanding and involvement of communities.
But much more is needed: more treatment centres, more trained health and care workers, more testing, more teams from within communities supporting communities.
We need sustained and safe access to reach all affected people.
We need continued solidarity from international community to end this outbreak.
And ultimately, we need peace for the people of DRC.
Congratulations to @AndyBurnhamGM on your election as Labour MP for Makerfield.
I look forward to working with you, and others across the Labour movement, to help ensure the party takes a better, principled and lawful direction on Palestine and Israel.
That must mean ensuring the UK is not complicit in war crimes or genocide, and that Israel is held to account for the continuing grave violations of international law.
Time will tell...
Scholars John Mearsheimer and Trita Parsi argue the US-Iran deal marks a rare rupture between Washington and the Israel lobby, one Trump and Vance could turn into broad public support.
Professor Mearsheimer said the lobby long ago “lost the game” in public discourse, where criticism of Israel is now widespread, but kept winning at the policy level, until now. “What you see happening here is a huge crack at the policy level. It’s the first time we’ve seen that,” he said, adding that a sophisticated appeal to a war-weary public would resonate.
Parsi warned the bigger threat to the deal may be Democrats. He said many senior Democrats who once backed diplomacy are now leveling “bad-faith” and “intellectually dishonest” attacks to make the deal as costly as possible for the administration, behaving as Republicans did against the 2015 accord.
If their resistance helps sink the deal and the US slides back toward war, “it will also be the Democrats’ war,” he warns.

NEW: On the same day terminally-unpopular Keir Starmer resigns as PM, Jeremy Corbyn is formally re-presenting his Bill for an independent inquiry into the British government's complicity in Israel's genocide in Gaza
Keir Starmer could have ended child poverty, homelessness and the grotesque levels of inequality in this country.
Instead, he abandoned those in need, destroyed our civil liberties and facilitated genocide in Gaza.
That is how this Prime Minister will be remembered - and that is the legacy of moral and political bankruptcy he leaves behind.
The crises in our society are not going away. Neither are we - and we will keep fighting for a more equal, peaceful and dignified society for all.
It is important to resist the commodification of basic human needs. Food, water and healthcare cannot be subordinated to market considerations or geopolitical interests. Access to adequate food is a fundamental human right grounded in the dignity of every person. Meeting this need not only alleviates suffering but also addresses underlying causes of geopolitical instability. Indeed, food security is an essential component of global and integral security. https://t.co/DgkM9RegJ7
Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya, a pediatrician and the director of Kamal Adwan Hospital, was detained December 26, 2024, from Kamal Adwan Hospital while performing his medical duties. He remains in custody without charges.
During a conversation with him, Dr. Abu Safiya mentioned that he is still in need of his glasses who were confiscated at the time of his detention, and he was not provided with an alternative since. He also mentioned that he has lost a significant amount of weight and now suffers from skin infections caused by severe conditions.
Dr. Abu Safiya is among dozens of healthcare workers from Gaza who are being unlawfully detained by Israel and subjected to inhumane conditions and ongoing medical neglect.
It is our responsibility to demand their immediate release.

⭕️ President Trump is privately complaining that Israel is trying to drag the U.S. back into war with Iran by continuing attacks in Lebanon despite the U.S.-Iran memorandum of understanding, according to a report by Zeteo, which cites four sources: three people with direct knowledge of Trump’s discussions and one person briefed on the matter.
“He’s swearing a lot about it,” a close Trump adviser reportedly told Zeteo.
A separate Trump administration official added that Trump is currently “definitely madder at the Israelis than the Iranians.”
