APTMA Calls for Immediate Restoration of Possession of Cotton Exchange Building to KCA and Its Tenants
For more than nine decades, the Karachi Cotton Association (KCA) has served as a cornerstone of Pakistan’s cotton economy, supporting trade facilitation, market transparency, price discovery, standardisation, and stakeholder coordination.
The prolonged disruption of operations at the historic Cotton Exchange Building is adversely affecting a large number of stakeholders across Pakistan’s cotton and textile value chain.
APTMA has urged the concerned authorities to immediately restore possession of the premises to KCA and its lawful tenants in accordance with the findings and relief granted by the Honourable High Court of Sindh.
APTMA is also concerned over the closure of the KCA HVI Laboratory, a globally recognised cotton testing facility that was ranked No. 1 in the world up to December 2025 in the CSITC Round Trials conducted under the auspices of the ICAC, Bremen Fibre Institute and USDA.
At a time when Pakistan’s textile sector faces significant domestic and international challenges, institutions that support the cotton value chain must be strengthened and allowed to continue serving the industry effectively.

PRESS SEC on U.S.-Iran negotiations: The Pakistanis have been incredible mediators and we really appreciate their friendship and efforts to bring this deal to a close.
The President feels it's important to continue to streamline this communication through the Pakistanis.
this has also proven that nominating him for Nobel prize and joining the Board of Peace were the correct diplomatic moves.
Pakistan's relations with Iran and Gulf had been pretty much the same even in Biden's time. We needed better relations with the US to have a say in matters.
I had a warm and substantive conversation with President Masoud Pezeshkian of Iran, this afternoon.
I conveyed my deep appreciation for the wisdom and sagacity of the Iranian leadership in accepting Pakistan’s offer to host peace talks in Islamabad later this week to work jointly for the return of peace to the region.
President Pezeshkian reaffirmed Iran’s participation in the upcoming negotiations and expressed appreciation for Pakistan’s efforts, while conveying his best wishes for the people of Pakistan.
Pakistan remains committed to working closely with all its friends and partners to advance peace and stability in the region and beyond.
@drpezeshkian
@motasim Bangladesh and Vietnam have a thriving textile industry and no domestic cotton. USA has very little textile industry and lots of cotton. You don't need domestic cotton to have a thriving industry. 80%+ of textile is non cotton anyhow.
@faizanlakhani He raised the flag in front of his fans paying money to attend his performance. They showed him love they didn't abuse and undermine him. The flag raising was him reciprocating their love and respect.
@Fahdhusain His experience with India is his fan base there that loves him, respects and appreciates his music and has shot him to regional and global fame. They travel to listen to him and he's showing them love back. He's got nothing to apologise for.
@briantimar Because energy from solar and batteries is still cheaper than energy from the grid. Everyone from individuals to industries is rushing to solarise energy supply due to this.
@aliktareen Focus on the fan experience. We need state of the art stadiums with the best views. Match programs. Quality concession stands. Ease of access to the stadium. Stadium entertainment. Localised fan culture chants etc.
@saadahsan Yeah. Actual issue for main roads is not the drainage but early warning system. Predict volume of rain, declare emergency a day before and keep everyone home for a day. Will avoid a lot of grief for many and apocalyptic social media posts of stranded vehicles/people.
@saadahsan I work there so go every day. During heavy rain of course it floods. 4-5 hours after rain it clears out. Next day after rain hardly a sign of water except a little standing water on the side roads.
