Dr. Kizza Besigye may not be the most arrested man in the world, but he shouldn’t be jailed for his opinion nor should he be denied access to food and threatened with death by a public hanging by the military dictatorship of Mr. Museveni. #FreeBesigye#FreeKizzaBesigye
Residents of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Uganda and South Sudan will be banned from entering Canada for 90 days starting Wednesday, the Canadian government said. https://t.co/WUYCXL8ntt
Proud to join hundreds of thousands of people to mark 78 years of the ongoing Nakba against the Palestinian people.
We are a mass movement for peace — and we are never, ever going away.
When all is said and done, we shouldn't forget to give huge credit to Agatha and her organization, Agora, for the central role they have played. Many of us probably paid keener attention to the corruption at Parliament after the exposé that was the Parliament exhibition. Courage!
The Prime Minister says his government has got "the big political decisions right". Let's go through them.
The government chose to cut welfare so it could spend even more on weapons and war.
The government chose to demonise the sick and disabled.
The government chose to keep children in poverty until it was dragged kicking and screaming to finally scrap the two-child benefit cap.
The government chose not to bring water into public ownership, not to tax wealth and not to implement rent controls.
The government chose to arm Israel and participate in genocide.
The government chose to let the US use British air bases for its war crimes in Iran.
The government chose to let Palantir get its hands on our NHS.
The government chose to scapegoat migrants and refugees for its own failures.
Poverty, inequality and genocide. Those are the government's big decisions. And that is how this government will be remembered.
This country might be about to have its 6th Prime Minister in 7 years.
Why? Because they’ve all failed to take on a rigged economic system that enriches the few at the expense of us all.
People want a society where children don’t go hungry. That is really not too much to ask.
Arabization and “Pan Arabism” was the downfall of Sudan. Ever since the concept of being Arab was introduced to Sudanese people, we have not known peace
Racial discrimination and exploitation have been embedded in economic systems for centuries. From the transatlantic slave trade to colonialism and segregation, these historical injustices have hardwired racism into global economic systems.
And now, the health of people in Global South countries is held back by an international financial architecture that is structurally unjust to low- and middle-income countries. About 3.3 billion people — almost half of humanity — live in countries that spend more on interest payments on public debt than on health or education.
Racist systems threaten global health: It’s time to dismantle them.

Oh, Black known and unknown poets, how often have your auctioned pains sustained us? Who will compute the lonely nights made less lonely by your songs, or by the empty pots made less tragic by your tales?
— Maya Angelou, I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings (p.155)
After centuries of colonial rule, independent thinking itself became a social offence. That was the terrain Nkrumah confronted. The former colonial powers couldn’t tolerate genuine sovereignty, & sections of the African elite, resisted it too.

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Joan Amek, the Executive Director/Kahuna of Rella Women’s Foundation. 🕊️
Joan was a fierce visionary and a tireless champion for women and LBQT+ rights in Uganda. Her legacy of courage and justice will never be forgotten. ✊🏾
The Poet is Missing!!!
He survived the bowels of Ndolo, writing verses on prison walls. But since a morning in Mbarara, his voice has been replaced by a haunting silence.
The "drones" came for the Sam
Missing since August 2025. Where is Sam Mugumya?

Victory at last. The first person charged with the death penalty under Uganda’s Anti-Homosexuality Act 2023, arrested in Aug 2023 for “aggravated homosexuality” and later downgraded to “unnatural offenses,” has had the case dismissed by a Ugandan court after 2+ years. Thank you to all our partners, the legal team & friends. 🏳️🌈🇺🇬
The current US administration is very transactional and unconcerned about governance issues abroad. (America First!) That means they only ‘ interfere in internal affairs’ of other nations when they have interests (read if that country has resources that the USA wants) That is why @Odrek_Rwabwogo ‘s transactional approach has been deployed. The timing for promoting AGOA in Washington makes sense. Forget Kabanda’s attack on Rwabwogo. That is not where the battle is. Opposition activists have to up-their game if they want to outshine Rosa Whittaker and Odrek’s PR stunt. FOCUS! The battlefield is still in Uganda. America only needs to know why you think Uganda will not deliver on Odrek’s promise - otherwise they will take the deal and your cries of Democracy First’ will fall on deaf ears. Capishe?
