Here is a better take. Change the ufc rules. People train wrestling which is a sport about control and position. Wrestlers aren't training bjj. If you don't want wrestlers to win, then change the scoring criteria. But if you're successfully subduing an opponent for 15 minutes using your from of fighting, and the ufc validates it with a win, how can you say that they should be cut? If entertainment matters more than skill, then the sport is no longer about being the best.
If you want to argue that they need bjj, and in mma you NEED to train a complete game with offensive grappling, I get that. But that's up to the ufc to change the scoring, so top time doesn't count for points. Otherwise you cannot blame the fighter.
That goes for every D1, Olympic, or Raf wrestler.
@Themaraudermma If you're undefeated in the most competitive promotion in the world, you're pretty high level. Sports are entertaining, but when entertainment becomes more important than skill and talent, you have a mockery of a sport.
Haha no hate but I disagree (kind of). In pure wrestling there are no submissions. The goal isn't to hurt your opponent. So every D1 wrestler, and RAF guy is not training to submit.
That's why you have guys who are submission over position. You go, why did they go for that sub and give up a top position. It's because tho bjj guys aren't training to pin and hold. It's completely different sports.
So to my point, if you don't want actual wrestling in mma, then don't score it. Don't let wrestlers win. We saw Almeida lose to volkov and people said robbery. I think it's a good decision of the rules we're consistent.
If you're doing bjj, being in guard (on bottom) isn't always a bad position. It's technically a 50/50 position. So again, it all comes down to judging.
But you can't blame a guy that wrestles for wrestling in an mma fight when its a valid form of fighting tha has been validated in the ufc for years.
(I hate wrestlers btw)
MAIN TARGET🎯
Bet: Broncos +3
Odds: -130
Stake: 2%
EVERYONE (public and sharps) is all over Eagles and yet the spread hasn't moved. That tells me the books are over exposed on the Eagles, but the line has not moved. Why? The books must have a strong position on the Broncos. I get the write ups, and I can see why Eagles is an easy bet, but to assume the books don't see the same thing is naive. Maybe Eagles win tonight, but we win longterm. Lets go!
@OctagonFocus I would rather have galanti u1.5 at a similar price. Imagine he runs through leblanc and finishes him with ground and pound. I think the r1 ko is priced wrong. Should be +350 maybe. +700 or better is crazy
Listen to what you said. People ENJOY entertainment more... Thats what entertainment is brotha, enjoyment. Im saying, UFC VALUES it more than skill. Yes the NBA wants exciting games, but people hated doncic for only being offensive. NFL coaches arent signing contracts based on how fun a player is. And in fact, people do enjoy defense. "Defense wins championships." Imagine saying "Dont be defensive and just try to score as many points as possible, or you shouldnt be champion." Again, coaches, team owners, teams themselves, they care more about winning than being exciting. Genuinely make it make sense.
The whole finishing argument makes no sense to me. MMA is a mix of martial arts, but the only sport where they value entertainment more than skill. Blame the UFC, not Farid. If they dont want wrestling in mma then change how fights are scored and give 0 points for control. But wrestling is part of the sport, and wrestling is all about control.
They win 10 in a row, you say "i need to tail now", then they lose 3 or 4 and its "i cant tail this guy." Then they win another 5 and you go "Okay now its a streak" and you tail. Then he loses 1 and you go "Well my luck is horrible."
If you follow a capper, ride the lows and the highs my brotha!
@I_AM_SATURDAY everyone says louis is the better brother. Idk how they can say that when charles just fought chito and louis is coming off dwcs lmaooo. Probably a pass for me but the spread is not a bad move
Fair point but I think every thing in mma is nuanced and contextual. For example, age affects everyone differently, and so do injuries. Yan is way more technical and I think his injury was way more deteminetal to his style than merabs. Fighters have injuries all the time. They're fighters after all haha. How it affects each fighter is the real question. But we will see!
@BlackpillMMA@crashoutandburn@Seerupy Fair haha. Ig my point is that one or two decisions completely change people's perception of a fighter. Yan has always been at the top and was +300 last time to merab haha
I agree with father time, but the trick is figuring out when father time shows up. I haven't seen volk slow down so much that age should matter here. It wasn't that long ago that volk lost to "the pound 4 pound" Islam, and the rematch shouldn't even count. Idk if the models know that was a horrible situation for volk, and he had everything going agaisnt him.
@NeptuneMMA Agreed. When has volk ever lost a decision? A competitive fight with Islam. Evloev isn't on that level. Volk is one of the featherweight goats and until he shows his age I'm riding with him at 145
