14.3.1 - I was surprised to learn that Barrack Obama was really the pioneer of politics and social media and that it really helped him gain popularity as a candidate and therefore helped him win #GNED1411
#GNED1411 14.3 3) I'm hoping to use what I've learned to further my use of social media in journalism. It's such a powerful tool for getting your stories out in to the world and I already have ideas for next semester.
#GNED1411 14.3 2) The power of social media movements, the ways we can protect our privacy and how much your social media identity can have an impact on your life.
#GNED1411 14.3 1) I think the most surprising thing I've learned about social media this course is just how popular Facebook really is. I don't hear anyone other than my mom talk about it but it's routinely the most popular page for stuff we've looked at.
#GNED1411 14.2 I think we'll see TikTok continue to grow throughout this year. I'm not sure what the peak of the app will be, but with so many new users coming on board during the quarantine I don't see it coming any time soon.
#GNED1411 14.1 I think social media will continue to include short form video and story content like Snapchat has. Instagram is already testing a TikTok like short form video feature in Brazil, and I'm interested to see where that goes.
#GNED1411 I feel like I learned more than I thought I would about the social media audit assignment. Such an interesting deep dive in to the ways people use social media!
@mikem20011#GNED1411 Unfortunately the truth. It's so hard to keep people in the back of the class engaged already. Social media would just make that even harder.
@rainesully#GNED1411 my thoughts exactly. Unless the class calls for social media, I don't know how much you gain from it say...in fire fighting or nursing during class time.
#GNED1411 13.3 Personally I think that social media is a distraction in the classroom. I'm of the mindset that you should have your phone down and head up during class time though. I may be old fashioned in that sense.
#GNED1411 13.2 One of the ways I think social media can be used in class rooms for Journalism is following stories as they unfold. We followed the protests in Hong Kong in the first semester, but mainly through reporting.
Hearing first hand accounts adds so much more context.
@RashmiM98303144#GNED1411 I haven't even considered the use of groups! they sound so helpful. In the Journalism group we have a giant WhatsApp to stay connected, but we very rarely stick together on social media for whatever reason.
