Today, Israeli settlers seized control of the only iron gate leading to the Christian village of Taybeh in the West Bank, closing it off and restricting movement in and out of the village.
The gate was installed by the Israeli army, which controlled when it opened and closed, but now settlers are taking control of these gates.

DISGUSTING: Hamas is depriving sick Palestinians of medical treatment abroad.
Exit lists meant for patients who need urgent medical care outside Gaza are being sold to the highest bidder. Pay up to $30,000 in bribes, and Hamas puts your name ahead of the sick and dying people.
Cancer patients. Children needing surgery. Bumped from the list so someone with money could take their spot.
Hamas is not a “resistance” movement. It is a militia that trades in Palestinian lives.
A theft yesterday at a #Russian#Orthodox church in #Tehran has shed light again on the types of #churches permitted to operate in Iran today, and those that are not.
The Church of St Nicholas is the only Russian Orthodox church still functioning in Iran today, when once there were around 50.
The other churches still permitted to hold services are #Assyrian, #Armenian, or Roman #Catholic, with Persian-language services outlawed to prevent attendance by the growing number of #Christian #converts.
One church that used to offer such services, the Evangelical Church of #Mashhad, was demolished last week after being forcibly closed for decades.
Meanwhile, the only three remaining #Anglican churches in Iran – St Luke’s in #Isfahan, St Paul’s in Tehran, and St Simon the Zealot’s in #Shiraz – have not been permitted to reopen since the Covid-19 pandemic.
#Article18 estimates that there are around 800,000 #Christians in Iran today, the vast majority of them Christian converts, who have no #place2worship and therefore meet together in private homes in what have become known as “#house_churches”.
However, these gatherings have been described as “enemy groups of a Zionist cult” by the Iranian authorities, and members routinely face arrest and imprisonment on charges of “membership of illegal groups” or “propaganda against the state”.

The Israeli army arrested two players from the Palestinian women’s national football team: Palestinian Christian Natali Abu Dayyah and Rand Al-Halawani.
An Israeli court has extended Rand’s detention until next Friday, while Natali’s family still does not know her whereabouts.
That particular moment when a British surgeon was giving his testimony to the UK Parliament.
He describes how IDF drones arrive right after airstrikes in Gaza, targeting and shooting the injured, including children, right on the spot.....
REVEALED: Inside Israel’s war on paramedics.
The National investigated four cases in which Israeli strikes killed first responders while they were carrying out rescue missions.
In each case, the paramedics were clearly identifiable as rescuers, and there was no indication of an immediate military threat that would justify the attack.
Legal experts said the cases reveal a pattern that appears "deliberate" and shows "clear intent" to target paramedics. 1/
There is a repeated pattern of medics and first responders in Lebanon being targeted as they attend the aftermath of Israeli attacks - documented by @MaucourantNada and the National, multiple other orgs like @hrw and us at @SkyNews See our latest report on Sky News YouTube https://t.co/RvO7gLxb6C
The Israeli war Minister is planning the war crime of ethnic cleansing against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip.
Tel Aviv: Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz announced on Wednesday that Israel will implement a plan for “voluntary migration” from the Gaza Strip.
He said that “the plan for voluntary migration from Gaza will be carried out at the appropriate time and in the appropriate manner.”
As a reminder once again, this is the report prepared by Nicolas Kristof from The New York Times, in which I was one of the speakers talking about my own experience, having been raped by members of the Israeli Prison Service during my detention... Save the remaining prisoners, and do not pay attention to the lies promoted by the occupation.
British MP Kit Malthouse unleashes on the UK Government: No ceasefire in Lebanon. Daily double-tap killings.
"If this is what they do to British & European citizens on camera... what are they doing to Palestinians off camera?"
"We're all fed up with the gaslighting!"
🚨Exclusive: I'm revealing the full text of Mladenov's Gaza plan
Palestinians are asked to hand over all "heavy weapons" including rifles & Ak-47s, destroy all tunnels & militant infrastructure within 90 days BEFORE any Israeli withdrawal or reconstruction, & trust that Israel would fulfil its side of the bargain AFTER Gaza becomes fully defenceless
Israel never fulfilled any of its obligations under phase 1 of that deal, so why would anyone trust they'd live up to phase 2, especially once the weapons (Gaza's only leverage) are gone?!?
From day 91-250, an international verification commission would go door to door to ensure Gaza is fully weaponless, Israel would only withdraw from & allow reconstruction in areas that have been fully verified to be 100% weaponless.
During that period, Palestinian factions & individuals would hand over all remaining weapons, including personal ones, except for personal firearms that would be "licensed" by NCAG (which Mladenov is in charge of).
Israel gets to keep 18% of Gaza (the enclave's most fertile agricultural lands) indefinitely, even after all weapons & militias in Gaza are gone
A lawyer who has defended political prisoners including Iranian #Christians has been arrested again in #Shiraz, according to reports.
According to the Emtedad website, Bahar Sahraian was detained on Saturday, 16 May, while following up on her cases at the Shiraz Revolutionary Court.
She was reportedly taken to the prosecutor’s office that same morning and charged with “assembly and collusion to act against national security”, “propaganda activities against the Islamic system”, and “publishing falsehoods”, before being sent to #AdelAbad Prison.
Bahar has defended clients including Sam Khosravi and Maryam Falahi, whose adopted daughter, Lydia, was ordered by a court to be removed from their care because they had converted to Christianity and Lydia was considered to have been born a Muslim; and Sara Ahmadi and Homayoun Zhaveh, who were sentenced to a combined 10 years in #Tehran’s #EvinPrison, even though Homayoun, in his 60s, suffered from advanced #Parkinsons disease.
In Sam and Maryam’s case, Bahar managed to obtain two fatwas from Grand Ayatollahs – the most senior #Shia Islamic authority in #Iran – declaring that, owing to the “critical nature” of the case, poor health of the child and undisputed emotional attachment with her parents, #Lydia’s adoption by Christian #converts was “permissible”.
She was also one of 120 lawyers to sign an open letter to the head of the judiciary at the time, calling on him to overturn the decision. (He did not.)

Whoever replaces Sir Keir Starmer will take a tougher line on Israeli war crimes. Imran Mulla and I analyse for Middle East Eye what the Labour leadership crisis is likely to mean for British relations with Israel:

NEW: Standards commissioner finds Nigel Farage committed seventeen breaches of MPs code of conduct.
He failed to declare around £380,000 in outside interests (approx 4x MPs annual salary) incl payments for promoting gold, presenting on GB News and from his friend George Cottrell, within 28 days.
Reform UK leader apologised for what he described as administrative errors by his team.
Despite a supposed ceasefire, Israel is savagely bombing Lebanon again today:
1) In the coastal village of Saksakiyeh, an airstrike on a residential building killed at least 7 people, including a child, and wounded 15 others. Rescue workers used heavy machinery to search for survivors in the rubble.
2) In the southern city of Nabatieh, adrone strike on a building in the al-Bayyad neighborhood killed 3 young men. Another strike in the city killed a Syrian national and his 12-year-old daughter.
3) To the south of Beirut, three separate drone strikes on vehicles along the coastal highway near Saadiyat and on a road to the Chouf region killed 4 people. This marked a rare targeting of areas outside traditional border conflict zones.
4) Strikes in Toura and near the Zawtar River added to the toll, with casualties including a civil defense rescuer.
The scale of these attacks is clearly designed to provoke a significant Hezbollah retaliation to justify renewing the ground offensive by the IDF. It is transparent and criminal.
Why is Israel attacking first responders in Lebanon? Under international humanitarian law, they should never be targeted. The attacks seem designed to harm the civilian population, part of Israel's effort to depopulate southern Lebanon. https://t.co/sL7CQYtR3f
Today, more than 2,600 Palestinians ran in Gaza — including amputees — and 11,000 in Bethlehem in the West Bank, including 1,000 foreign runners, as part of the 10th Palestine International Marathon.
