This beautiful graph made by @Shay_Shao shows the growth in global hashrate during the first year of $kas.
This graph beautifully shows waves of increased adoption spaced by nice and steady plateaus (they look even steadier if you recall that the DAA has oscillations of about 10%).

The graph starts at 2021-11-27, twenty das after the network was launched*. We see that it starts in the middle of a nice exponential increase. We see that during the first two months of the graph (which again, do not include the first three weeks of the network, so our starting point is already rather high), the difficulty increased by a factor of about 400, followed by more relaxed steady 100 fold increase during the rest of the first year.
In particular, the first GPU miner was released in 2021-12-06, indicated by a sudden slope increase at the start of the blue line. We see that during the first 11 months since the GPU miner was made available, the hashrate has increased by a factor of more than 10,000. A factor of about 8 can be attributed to gradual improvements in the mining software, the rest is organic growth.

The bottom line is that we see exponentially increasing engagement from the very start, mostly concentrated during the first months of the network, showing that Kaspa has been mined by many people nearly from inception.

* That is, after the infamous outage. The data for the first weeks is available but harder to recover so it is not included. It will be added in a future version.
