@adrianmckinty I was taught English in the first year of '"big school" by an ex-WW2 Royal Marines colonel. He was a beach master on D-Day and went on to teach The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe to 11 yo boys.

@adrianmckinty Larkin was a sub-librarian at QUB in Belfast and has a pub named after him in Coventry. John Hewitt was art director at the Herbert Gallery in Coventry and has a pub named after him in Belfast. The only other poet pub I can think of is the Rupert Brooke in Grantchester.
