inspired by @ldnloocodes and @camloocodes - access to loos is a human right! DM us your Sheffield loo codes (info about accessibility & gender also encouraged)
I can't believe I have actual journalism requests sitting in my DMs that have gone ignored for months :( sorry all! I will do better at checking from now on
I've been neglecting this account mostly because I haven't been going outside and most of the public loos in Sheffield have been closed! Now things are starting to reopen, consider this a reminder that this account still exists and I always want submissions of Sheffield codes!
I want this project to succeed and expand but I'm currently also applying for PIP and trying to complete a postgrad degree so uh. I need help for interactive maps/spreadsheets etc to happen
Everyday mutual aid and solidarity on the internet?
@ldnloocodes is building a database of all the bathroom codes in London, coz fuck capitalism and gatekeeping a biological need to pee/poop etc
These are cropping up all over.
Is there one for your town?
If not, start one.
C0sta by Hillsborough tram station has gendered toilets with no code, and an accessible toilet (though it's currently out of order - they say it will be fixed within the week, will check when I'm next there on Friday)
Northern General hospital (Herries Rd) is full of toilets no matter what entrance you use, including accessible ones, and it's always open, though I don't know what response you'd get just walking in there at night
do you have toilet codes for cafes etc. in Sheffield? or knowledge of free-access toilets, especially away from the city centre? send them this way! #freepee
St Mark's Church on Broomfield Rd has gendered toilets and an accessible gender neutral toilet and is open on weekdays 9-5 as well as Sunday mornings and early evenings. There's also info on a wide range of local resources in the lobby area
I'm considering creating paper copies of info about free loos that aren't likely to change and distributing them to places that carry similar public information, so the info is accessible to ppl without internet access.
Good idea? Awful idea? Any insight?
