BREAKING: Danladi Joins List of APC Governorship Candidates Uploaded on INEC Portal

Rt. Hon. Engr. Salihu Yakub Danladi (SYD) has officially joined the list of governorship candidates uploaded on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Candidate Nomination Portal (ICNP) as the All Progressives Congress (APC) Governorship Candidate for Kwara State ahead of the 2027 General Elections.

Kwara News Update gathered that the APC has commenced the nationwide digital upload of its governorship and State House of Assembly candidates to the INEC portal in line with the electoral timetable.

The exercise is giving priority to 16 incumbent APC governors seeking re-election, alongside the party's governorship candidates in other states.

Among the incumbent governors whose names have been uploaded are Umo Eno (Akwa Ibom), Hyacinth Alia (Benue), Uba Sani (Kaduna), Abba Yusuf (Kano), Dikko Radda (Katsina), Nasir Idris (Kebbi), Umaru Bago (Niger), Caleb Mutfwang (Plateau), Ahmad Aliyu (Sokoto), Agbu Kefas (Taraba), and Dauda Lawal (Zamfara).

Also featured among the APC's first-time governorship candidates are Obafemi Hamzat (Lagos), Solomon Adeola (Ogun), Ogundu Kingsley Chinda (Rivers), Eric Opah (Abia), Mohammed Abubakar (Bauchi), Mustapha Gubio (Borno), Jamilu Gwamna (Gombe), Ahmed Aliyu Wadada (Nasarawa), Baba Malam Wali (Yobe), and Rt. Hon. Engr. Salihu Yakub Danladi (Kwara State).

The upload of Rt. Hon. Engr. Salihu Yakub Danladi's name on the INEC Candidate Nomination Portal confirms his candidature as the APC flag bearer for the 2027 Kwara State Governorship Election.

The development comes as the APC intensifies preparations for the 2027 General Elections, with the party's Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Department at its National Headquarters in Abuja reportedly commencing the upload process to meet INEC's statutory deadline.

I sincerely thank our revered father and the custodian of the stool of Shehu Alimi for his royal blessings and spiritual prayers to all our candidates and for acknowledging and commending Gov. AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s outstanding leadership in the state.

_Caucus describes impostors as “interlopers,” says 22 May primary was free, fair and peaceful

ILORIN – The Kwara State All Progressives Congress, APC, Elders Caucus has disowned individuals who addressed a press conference earlier Monday claiming to speak for the group, describing them as “interlopers with no recognition within the party structure.”

Addressing journalists in Ilorin, the caucus said it convened the meeting to “correct the record” and put to rest what it called deliberate falsehoods about the conduct of the APC governorship primary held on 22 May 2026.

“The people of Kwara deserve the facts,” a spokesperson for the caucus said. “Silence in the face of mischief is complicity.”

The caucus affirmed that the primary, supervised by a committee sent from Abuja and chaired by Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, was conducted peacefully at the Banquet Hall along Ahmadu Bello Way. Rt. Hon. Yakubu Danladi-Salihu, the incumbent Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, emerged as the party’s governorship candidate after polling 94,990 votes to defeat eight other aspirants.

According to the result announced by Senator Obanikoro, the breakdown of votes was: Amb. Yahaya Seriki, 41,700; Bolarinwa, 22,118; Engr. Femi Sani, 5,519; Sen. Ibrahim Yahaya Oloriegbe, 3,920; Belgore, 3,411; Prof. Wale Suleiman, 2,434; Prof. Abubakar Suleiman, 1,722; Mohamed Bio, 1,122; and Dr. Alabi Oluwatoyin, 1,099.

The caucus said Danladi-Salihu won convincingly across the state, securing over 90 per cent of votes in all five local governments of the Northern Senatorial District and leading comfortably in Offa, Oyun, Irepodun, Ekiti, Isin, Oke Ero, and Ifelodun in the Central and Southern districts.

It noted that none of the other aspirants has since challenged the outcome and that the candidate has extended a hand of fellowship to his co-contestants. Since his emergence, Danladi-Salihu has also consulted key stakeholders, including traditional rulers, who have pledged support and offered prayers for his 2027 bid.

The caucus dismissed allegations that Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq imposed a candidate, stating that the Governor allowed a free contest and did not interfere with the supervisory committee. It described the process as “free, fair, and peaceful.”

It urged the individuals behind the parallel briefing to join the Governor and other stakeholders in working for the APC’s victory in 2027, stressing that every well-meaning party member desires a successor who will consolidate the administration’s achievements.

“Kwara is fortunate to have a listening and responsive Governor who has carried everyone along,” the caucus said. “That culture of inclusiveness is what has kept the APC strong in the state.”

The group assured President Bola Ahmed Tinubu that Kwara remains an APC state and expressed confidence that the party would retain the governorship in 2027.

Agree. Dangote is fighting because they want to destroy his investment. He has fought many battles on this refining business.

1. Obasanjo sold the Port Harcourt refinery to him. NNPC staff protested.

2. YarAdua took back the refinery from him

3. Dangote spent $20 billion of his own money to build a brand new refinery.

4. Then, this same NMDSRA issued a statement that Dangote's refined products were sub-standard. This was later proven to be false.

5. Then NNPC refused to supply him crude oil. He turned to the USA to source his crude oil and continues to import from them till this day.

6. Then PBAT ordered NNPC to start supplying him crude oil and to accept naira payment. NNPC was unhappy.

7. Suddenly, NUPENG and PENGASSEN ganged up, claiming Dangote is a monopolist, because he is refusing them the old practice of toll collection of N5m per truck while loading products.

8. Dangote called their bluff and decided to buy his own CNG tankers, 2000 of them.

9. NUPENG and PENGASSEN then declared a strike action demanding that Dangote staff must be allowed to join their union.

10. Smelling a rat, Dangote asked all staff to indicate if they wanted to join PENGASSEN. 800 staff signed. Dangote sacked them all, claiming 22 incidents of sabotage detected in the refinery, including unexplained fire incidents.

11. NUPENG and PENGASSEN again went on strike.

12. NASS intervened and begged Dangote to rehire the 800 staff. Dangote took the staff back, but sent them to cement factories, far away from his $20 billion refinery.

13. Today, Dangote's refinery is working producing PMS, diesel, aviation fluid, fertilizers etc. He is exporting to USA, Asia and other African countries, earning FOREX.

14. Yet, Ahmed Farouk insists on spending our inadequate FOREX earnings to import PMS in order to keep refineries in Europe in business. Now we know why this is so. Obviously, he is receiving kick backs. He will rather do that than support a local investment. If this is not economic sabotage, what is it?

15. Clearly, Dangote and Bua who are locked in a healthy competition are contributing to our economic renaissance.

Saboteurs like Ahmed Farouk must be stopped. They are spending our FOREX while Dangote is generating FOREX for the country.

I once had a client in Abuja. Mid thirties. Soft spoken. Very disciplined guy.

He worked in construction procurement. Not flashy money, but stable. Rent paid in Maitama. Car was clean, not new. Children in good schools. Life was not loud, but it was steady.

His wife was beautiful. Smart too. He met her when he was still managing a small project site in Kubwa he told me this. She married the potential in him, not abundance. And for years, she stood by him.

Then Abuja entered her phone.

Gym friends in Wuse 2. Instagram. Weekend brunches. Women whose husbands were senators, oil contractors, politicians. Soft life conversations entered her living room without knocking.

Comparison quietly became her daily diet. She started saying things like; “Is this all we will be?”, “Other women are traveling every month”, “You are too comfortable.”

The man noticed the shift. He tried to adjust. Took more risks. Took loans. Overworked himself. Still, Abuja was always showing her someone doing better.

One day, she met a man who checked all the boxes she thought she deserved. Big SUV. Driver. Access. Promises.

She left her marriage with two kids for that upgrade.

Six months later, the illusion cracked.

The man was married. She was a side arrangement. The money came with control. Silence. Disrespect. She could not post him. Could not complain. Could not demand.

By the time she wanted to return, the door was closed. Her former husband had healed quietly. Focused on work. Focused on the kids. Peace replaced pressure.

Today, she struggles with regret. Not because she left, but because she realized too late that hypergamy without self awareness does not upgrade a life. It often destroys it.

Abuja is not dangerous because of money.
It is dangerous because it constantly convinces people that what they have is never enough.

And some people ruin good lives chasing a lifestyle that was never meant to be theirs.

What am I saying? Lifestyle inflation ruins more homes than poverty.
The moment your desires grow faster than your income, pressure enters everything.

Not every “soft life” you see is real or sustainable.
Many are funded by debt, politics, or temporary access.
