Reports of forced military conscription in #Tigray are deeply alarming. Mothers in Mekelle are seen crying as their children are taken away for military training by an armed group. How much more suffering must people endure before this madness is stopped? Silence only emboldens further suffering. The people of Tigray deserve peace, justice, and protection. #Ethiopia #HumanRights #Accountability #ethiopianwomen @hrw@amnestypress@UNHumanRights@SweinEthiopia@UKinEthiopia@EUinEthiopia
#Ethiopia: #Orthodox priest stranded at #Addis_Abeba Airport, says his rights violated by security forces https://t.co/7deofNJLfm
Speaking to Addis Standard by phone from the airport, where he is stranded for the last two days, Aba Serekebirhan expressed his frustrations and called the situation a โviolation of his human rights.โ
Lawyers have filed complaints on his behalf and obtained a court order for him to appear at a court of law, he said, but security forces did not allow him to leave the airport.
Asked by Addis Standard , Ashenafi Zeray, senior corporate communications officer at the Ethiopian Airlines, said the matter did not concern the Airlines.
Federal police spokesperson, Jeylan Abdi, on his part said that he has no information regarding the stranded priest.
This is sad and heartbreaking to see wounded TDF heroes asking for help what the hell is going on? Action is needed as soon as possible this is a mistake, learn from the past they deserve all the support they needed they sacrifice for Tigray people, @reda_getachew The complaints of the fighters should be looked down upon
I determined that members of the Ethiopian National Defense Forces, Eritrean Defense Forces, Amhara forces, and Tigray Peopleโs Liberation Front forces committed atrocity crimes. I condemn these atrocities and welcome commitments to pursue transitional justice.
