@JBradshaw01 There was a teacher I heard of who had died on her way to work during some sort of ice storm. With all the conversations occurring with OSSTF, as well as the government, and the fact that this is the day, just before the break, I agree with their decision.
@JBradshaw01 It definitely jeopardize the safety of teachers as well as students and it’s not as if we can’t do synchronous or asynchronous learning. If it is really bad, it is an option. But if the weather gets worse and worse, why are we endangering ourselves?
@luqmanmichel@WeinsteinEdu a relationship is key which means listening. What did they love to do before the pandemic, what are they doing now, how did they re-adjust their routines? If they haven’t, I do vision boards, goal setting and movement... among other things
@luqmanmichel@WeinsteinEdu One way is creating Google forms with a life/balance chart complete with emotional check-ins, their level of activity, understanding who they speak to and spend time with and if it’s negative or there is limited interaction, I schedule a video call with parents and kids. However
@luqmanmichel@WeinsteinEdu I think one of the easiest ways to re-engage students is getting to know them, setting the tone and adapting to the online space. Their likes and dislikes and who they are becoming is important. Our world is increasingly technological and globalizing so it won’t just go away
@KojoInstitute It regards the shaping of our minds to view certain ethnicities as more dangerous than others. That regards our social media, mass media as well as the books we read. Policies serve as a Band-Aid to a greater problem
@AOC Unfortunately, it’s not just Facebook. It’s all of social media looking for users to have prolonged watch time. Knowing that anger reinforces the most watch time, we should understand how dangerous the effects are on our children
@micahgallen Something interesting with adhd as well is hyperfocus. Learning how to transition that overthinking into something productive is worthy to look into but unfortunately ADHD is still highly stigmatized so the research is limited to certain areas
We need Holistic Education in our lives where we understand social/emotional learning as the most important component of intentional living. it directly influences our quality of life
Learning how to tell our own story is one of the most powerful things we can ever learn to do. Listening to how other people tell their’s helps us understand ours better
Class privilege is the difference between your demands to better your community being seen as asking for “handouts” or being seen as voicing your concerns.
Highly respect their work in terms of relationships. If you haven't heard of the Gottmans before, worth a look. I have applied some of their research to secondary students and mentees in terms of reflections of familial, amical and later, romantic relationships in their lives
