Nanomaterials and Chemical Engineering Think Pad. SHIN˙ Group, Keimyung University Assistant Professor. Samsung Semicon R&D, UT Austin, KAIST, Fulbright.
Can an AI model predict perfectly and still have a terrible world model?
What would that even mean?
Our new ICML paper formalizes these questions
One result tells the story: A transformer trained on 10M solar systems nails planetary orbits. But it botches gravitational laws 🧵
Thought this old magnetron sputterer was dead. Care and resuscitation. Plasma brought back to life. That's a nice conductive copper film for further use.
Tenure Track Opening at Keimyung University, Department of Chemical Engineering.
2024 Semiconductor Nanocrystal Summer School. Hands on field testing automated reaction engineering prototype. PLC setup with students at Keimyung University. Seen some fabulous semiconductor fab facilities in the industry. But we are slowly getting there with the inspiration.
Students brought up this interesting particle in a meeting one day. We decided to dive a bit deeper.
Porosity in the infrared electromagnetic wave. Hierarchical semiconductor plasmonic nanocrystals. #KeimyungUniversity#ORNL

Cleaning out some very old boxes around the lab. Students and I were very surprised to find a classic Mac. Was really interesting to see the same DRAMs then and now. PC was old as I am. And older than the students for sure.
This was a fun chemical engineering field trip. Soju production line at Daesun Distilling Co. Thinking about a batch reactor process control modeling problem for the finals...
Best of luck to all students taking the Korean College Scholastic Ability Test.
No fly time zones in the short listening test sections nationwide.
I trust the extreme degree of care that goes in this event. An attempt to provide equal opportunity to climb the social ladder.
Gamma ray spectroscopy. Really is strange to think that electromagnetic waves are excited by spitting the atomic nucleus, not the change of electron shell. Rays completely transparent by my hands is a plus.
