I got one ticket to see Cat Power sing Dylan tonight at the Ace Downtown (or whatever it’s called now). Anyone want it? I saw her last night and it was greeeeaaaaaat.
Iran executed around 800 people in 2023, but this is the first time that a death sentence has been carried out after being rejected by a higher court, raising questions over the reasons and the timing of the execution, in particular.

The Taliban have arbitrarily arrested these six women's rights activists in Afghanistan, simply because they stood up for the women of Afghanistan. They are Tajik women. Their whereabouts unknown.
We DEMAND their immediate and unconditional release. We will not be silenced.
#ToomajSalehi:
"I am a survivor of bloody November, my poetry, my voice, immortal,
Me? I am one of thousands, the sweet end of my story.
I'm drunk from the lashes I've received, a victorious prisoner they took away.
A flame of chaff they said, turning away from life, facing the enemy.
Two thousand, the mountain of my case file, Kasra, Golrokh, I am imprisoned.
The blood of Siavash, the bow of Arash, a flight that soared and left.
The unavoidable radiance of my light, the inevitable growth of my seed,
I have roots, I am steadfast, I? The tree of hope for my homeland.
A child laborer, I am unknown, the callus of my dream's hand.
The season of unity, I command, my blood is my sovereignty.
The dry heart of a sea, the cut wing of my flight,
The slap on the soldier's face, the arrow in the chest of Ahvaz.
The poverty of Baluch, the Kurdish porter, my mother tongue is Arab, Turk.
I am the son of Iran, a Bakhtiari, a symbol of courage.
I am the wrath of God, your fear, the just judge of the homeland is my end.
I am the purgatory of God, your terror, a soldier of truth, death is my pride.
I am the roar of anger, my rage, the collapse of a dam, my flood.
From within I am a color, a child, gentle like my death, my poetry."
This translation attempts to capture the essence and emotion of the original lyrics, reflecting the themes of struggle, resilience, and defiance.

The Islamic Republic of Iran has executed yet another individual, contributing to the distressing toll of over 600 hangings within less than 12 months.
After 12 years since his arrest on charges of "armed rebellion," 32-year-old Meysam Chandani was executed in the Central Prison in Zahedan, Sistan and Baluchestan province, on Saturday, November 11th. Reports indicate that in recent years, he suffered from acute mental illness, a consequence of severe torture, prison conditions, and anxiety over his impending death sentence.
We strongly denounce the disgraceful sentencing of Mahsa Yazdani, a grieving mother seeking justice for her son, Mohammad Javad Zahedi, a 20-year-old who was shot and killed at a street protest.
Yazdani has been sentenced to 13 years in prison, with a mandatory 5-year term if upheld.
She and hundreds of others of mothers in Iran have been blocked from pursuing justice for their murdered loved ones, while themselves being persecuted for simply raising their voices.
The blatant injustice in this case is a stark reminder of the urgent need for international attention and action to address human rights violations and support those who bravely seek justice in Iran.

Reports out of Iran, posted by Tavaana group, say Armita Garavand has been declared brain dead.
Armita is a teen in Iran who, according to eye witness accounts, was physically assaulted on a Tehran metro while on her way to school by the regime’s mandatory hejab enforcers.
#Breaking,
Hengaw has been informed that on the evening of Thursday, October 5th, following a 24-hour detention, Shahin Ahmadi, the mother of Armita Garavand, was returned to Fajr Hospital in Tehran after providing consent not to engage in any form of publication.
In this regard, government authorities, upon transferring Armita to an unspecified location in the same hospital, replaced all medical staff, including healthcare personnel and even security officers present at the site, due to suspicions of leaked information.

I’m not a Republican, Right wing, or a Conservative.
I find the report released re: diaspora Iranian think tankers concerning.
Y’all can’t keep labeling anyone who raises legit concerns and ?’s a war monger. Plenty of us progressives exist in this space & we are concerned too.
Iranian artist Mehdi Yarrahi was arrested and imprisoned simply for writing a song promoting women’s rights, and a woman’s right to choose how to dress.
He must be freed.

Morality police attacks a woman not wearing hijab in a car. Watch her fight back despite getting punched in the face.
To the undecided men: choose a side. And for the sake of humanity make interventions. This woman is all women of Iran. You’d do well to support them.
The Taliban will use security forces to BAN women from visiting Afghanistan’s national park.
They have already banned girls from school/university, workings, travelling alone & forced mandatory burqa. Afghanistan has become a real prison for its women.

The mother of Mahsa Jina Amini, a 22-year-old woman whose killing in state custody sparked months of anti-state protests in Iran, posted this photo of her daughter online and wrote:
“Your lock of hair has captured so many hearts…”
The anniversary of the country's "Woman Life Freedom" movement, inspired by Amini's story, is in less than a month, and Iranian state security forces have been relentlessly been arresting women's rights activists.
