We had an awesome staff development day yesterday involving relevant workshops where teachers shared strategies and resources to target student learning needs at our school. I truly experienced the value of 'staff development days' and why they are needed...#acuedu_p
This week I’ve made up some ‘challenge cards’ to hopefully help my early finishers to stay on task as that has been a big issue in my class this term. Hoping this will help manage behaviour for students who finish tasks early as well 🤞🏼 #acuedu_p
Slowly adding to my Maths wall 🥰 year 1 were learning all about months and seasons last week & this display is to help students remember them as assessment results showed us that the students struggle with remembering the months and seasons #acuedu_p
I just put these prompts up today. I had used these hand signals as a form of student self-assessment in my last primary practicum experience, and was so excited to implement this strategy moving forward with my new class! #acuedu_p
Reading Corner! To reinforce the importance of independent reading I wanted my students to have a calm and comfortable space where they can enjoy reading independently. Students love the reading corner and look forward to their independent reading time 📖📚 #acuedu_p
Reading the daily 5 it is a literacy framework that instills behaviors of independence, creates a classroom of highly engaged readers, writers, and learners, and provides teachers with time and structure to meet diverse student needs. #acuedu_p
An interesting method of managing classroom interruptions- students silently use hand signals to indicate what they need, and the teacher can simply nod yes or no. It avoids the verbal ‘I need to go to the toilet’ and the 100 other ‘me too’s that follow. #acuedu_p
My first day of Term 1 was on a Year 5 class and I was asked to do a pre-writing assessment with the students. They had to answer: What am I good at? What am I interested in writing about? What do I need help with? I liked this idea! 👍🏻✏️#ACUedu_p
