What if Christmas was celebrated around us in a different way? ...would it be offensive?

In "A Charlie Brown Christmas," Charlie Brown says…

"I think there must be something wrong with me, Linus. Christmas is coming, but I'm not happy. I don't feel the way I'm supposed to feel."

Later, Linus quotes Luke 2:8-14 from the King James Bible and it is so powerful and beautiful…

"And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace, good will toward men."

And then he drops this powerful truth…

"That's what Christmas is all about, Charlie Brown."

When Linus starts telling Charlie Brown what Christmas is all about from Luke 2, he is holding his blanket. When he says the words "fear not" he tosses his blanket aside and finishes quoting Scripture. Linus shows that true security can be found in Christ.

The powerful and iconic scene was not liked by the network for being too religious. They wanted to remove it, but Charles Schulz held firm to his insistence that the scene remain because it was essential to what the true meaning of Christmas is all about.

I am thankful for Schulz's insistence. I couldn't even imagine not having this powerful scene.

Whether we’re talking about Hanukkah or Christmas, Yeshua is the reason for the season. Both holidays tell the story of the Jewish Messiah, whether it’s the cleansing from idolatry and the temple menorah representing the light that dwells among us, or the story of the birth of the Messiah in Bethlehem. Both holidays are typically celebrated without a thought to the Messianic meaning, but ONE FOR ISRAEL held a seasonal outreach event to bring Yeshua back into focus:

“He came as a witness, to bear witness about the light, that all might believe through him.” (John 1:7)

Both Arabs and Jews were invited to the special event in the northern city of Haifa. The Arabic outreach team prepared for hundreds of believers and non-believers to come and hear about bearing a witness to the light. Although the presentation took place in Arabic, there was simultaneous translation into Hebrew for anyone who needed it.

Three powerful testimonies were part of the line up: one from an ex-Muslim who was trained as a terrorist but was radically saved, one from a Jewish lady called Orit who had a revelation of Yeshua in a synagogue on Yom Kippur, and another lady who is a school teacher, warning of the spiritual dangers of yoga. The main message came from Carlos Damianos, who talked about the light of Yeshua from John chapter 1, and the importance of being willing to share this light without fear.

There was a festive meal together and two worship bands — one Jewish and one Arab — bringing praise to God and to the Light who came into the world.

Many Christian Arabs in Israel have never spent time reading the Bible, much like the millions in the West who celebrate Christmas each year with no real thought to the meaning behind the holiday. The term “Christian” does not necessarily indicate faith, but rather culture, so we are praying that many will come and meet our Savior in a personal way. Some Muslims will also be open to an invitation to an event like this, and so please join is in praying that many come and find the true light for themselves!

Please pray for all those who came to hear about Yeshua, the light of the world: that they would receive His light and life.

If you aren't aware of what's going on right now, let me break it down for you. Jews worldwide are being hunted down and killed. It's only day three of Hanukkah, and already we've seen:

1. Jews murdered by a jihadi father-son duo in Australia that seriously wounded many people, including my friend @Ostrov_A (thinking of you, brother).

2. Students at @BrownUniversity were murdered in a class being taught by Rachel Friedberg, a Jewish professor who leads the school's Judaic Studies program.

3. A Jewish professor of nuclear physics at M.I.T. was murdered in his home today.

4. Orthodox Jews in New York were violently assaulted on the subway.

5. Violent Palestinian protestors disrupted a peaceful Hanukkah celebration in Amsterdam. Dozens were arrested after police had to physically surround families celebrating the holiday to protect them.

6. A Jewish family in California had their home hit by gunfire because they had Hanukkah decorations up. One of the criminals shouted, "Free Palestine."

7. An Islamic terrorist attack has been foiled in Poland at a Christmas market.

8. An Islamic terrorist attack has been foiled in Germany at a Christmas market.

9. A Palestinian terrorist attack was foiled in California.

10. France has cancelled its NYE celebrations because of the terrorist threat level.

11. Canada's Integrated Terrorism Assessment Centre has said that a terrorist attack in Canada is now "a realistic possibility."

I've been studying terrorism for 20 years, and I've never seen things this bad. The West is under attack – full stop. The question now is, what the hell are we going to do about it?

Many comicbook writers throughout history have been Jewish Americans who celebrated the Festival of Lights, including Stan Lee, Jack Kirby, Joe Simon, Bill Finger, Jerry Siegal, Joe Schuster, and Larry Lieber.

Since his 1961 debut, it was heavily hinted at that Ben Grimm (the Thing) was Jewish 🕎 In this 1976 holiday card, Jack Kirby drew Grimm celebrating Hanukkah, further confirming fan theories.

The West didn’t reject Jesus — it rebranded Him.

We’ve turned the Lion of Judah into a soft, inoffensive, hippie mascot who never confronts sin, never speaks hard truth, and never offends anyone. That Jesus doesn’t exist.

The real Jesus was strong, bold, fearless, and unapologetic.
He spoke with authority, not approval.
He flipped tables.
He rebuked corruption.
He called men to repent, deny themselves, and follow Him — not to be comfortable, but to be transformed.

Christ was not weak.
He didn’t beg for acceptance.
He didn’t silence truth to keep the peace.

The West didn’t lose Jesus — it watered Him down to justify cowardice and compromise.

If your version of Jesus never convicts you, never offends your pride, and never demands obedience — it’s not Jesus.

It’s an idol.

Chanukah is not in the Old Testament, obviously because its events occurred after the canon closed. But Daniel 8 explicitly prophesies the rise of the Greek empire, Alexander the Great, and eventually Antiochus Epiphanes, the villain of Chanukah. Truly an astonishingly accurate prophecy!!
