I have had the most intense but thoroughly enjoyable time at my first EdD Residential weekend. Met some great people too! #research#lovelearning#fraternity
I’m absolutely thrilled to have held my first Steering Group Meeting for the Astrea Family Literacy Project today. Thank you to the members for your wealth of skills, knowledge and experience that will be invaluable in driving the project forward. #raisingoutcomes#weareastrea
@helenwheeler3#EYFS is limiting curriculum, yet children will still be fascinated by the patterns they see, still enjoy spinning, still love things that are ‘gigantic’ and ‘tiny’. @educationgovuk please take note - young children need their government to recognise their mathematical ambition.
It really is time to trust teachers and parents to share what they know about young children and document their early learning. No test will tell us more than those who live and work with young children can! Stop now! Please? @EducationSheff @MoreThanScore https://t.co/inHcU3K9Vi
Poverty is a key factor in educational under achievement. How about the £10Million+ committed for Baseline Assessment is spent on alleviating poverty so that families don’t struggle to feed their children? Hungry children can’t learn. Child poverty is a national disgrace.
Whilst feeling the pressures of the data-driven standards agenda, I feel inspired by teachers who have the courage to teach reading comprehension rather than test it. #weighingthepigdoesnotmakeitfatter🐷
