Seven years ago, on this day, Articles 370 and 35(A) became history, marking a decisive new chapter in the journey of Jammu and Kashmir as well as Ladakh.
Since then, the lives of the people of J&K and Ladakh have witnessed wide-ranging transformation. Infrastructure has expanded, opportunities in areas such as education, healthcare, entrepreneurship and sports have grown. Be it the women or the marginalised communities, those who were denied their basic constitutional rights for decades have been empowered thanks to the full application of the Constitution of India.
5th August this year assumes even greater significance as this is the year our nation commemorates the 125th birth anniversary of Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee. His lifelong commitment to national unity continues to inspire generations. What he envisioned decades ago found historic fulfilment on 5th August 2019.
We reaffirm our commitment to the progress of Jammu and Kashmir as well as Ladakh and to ensure that every citizen has the opportunity to dream big, achieve and contribute to the making of a Viksit Bharat.

8 | PRIOR APPROVAL FOR LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT INQUIRIES
The proposed amendment provides for prior approval of the Central Government before State agencies or law enforcement authorities undertake investigations into specified FCRA matters.
Why does this matter?
FCRA regulates foreign contributions under a central legal framework. Central oversight can help ensure that investigations involving foreign funding follow a consistent regulatory process.
For the Government: coordinated oversight and greater consistency in enforcement.
For the nation: a more unified approach to regulating foreign contributions.
For citizens: greater clarity, consistency and accountability in investigations involving foreign funds.
In simple terms:
Central oversight.
Coordinated enforcement.
Consistent procedure.
Greater regulatory clarity.

~ Jantar Mantar, Samrāṭ Yantra and Rashtraseva ~
The passage of the Anti-Paper Leak Bill marks the culmination of long hours of careful work, responsibility and attention to a matter of great public importance. Beyond the work itself, it brings to mind the deeper meaning of rashtraseva; service to the nation as a discipline of duty.
I imagine Modi Ji at Jantar Mantar, not at the protest site, but within the ancient observatory, seated quietly among the magnificent red sandstone yantras that follow the movements of the grahas and nakshatras. The sprawling lawns lie calm, reminding the true meaning of silence. The Samrāṭ Yantra, measuring kāla, stands as a timeless reminder of order, discipline and the larger pace of existence.
There is something deeply evocative about a leader pausing in such a place after demanding hours of public service. In the spirit of karma yoga, action is performed with shraddhā, niyam and a sense of duty, without attachment to personal reward. Rashtraseva becomes not merely a responsibility, but a sankalpa; a lifelong commitment to the nation.
Dharma also calls upon each of us to uphold truth, dignity, justice and democratic values in our own conduct. In an age of social media, where information travels instantly and narratives can be shaped quickly, the importance of discernment, integrity and responsibility becomes even greater.
A nation is strengthened when its public life is guided by wisdom, compassion, knowledge, philanthropy and a genuine spirit of service. These values give meaning to leadership and purpose to citizenship.
Maybe that is the quiet lesson of Jantar Mantar: kāla moves ceaselessly, while our duty remains- to serve with humility, remain anchored in truth, and dedicate our actions to the larger good of Bharat.
And perhaps there is another quiet meaning in that stillness. Beside an ancient instrument built to honour kāla and the cosmic order, one is reminded that a mother’s blessings and memory remain beyond the reach of passing words. The dignity with which Modi Ji carries his mother’s memory is itself a quiet answer to those who have chosen to insult her sacred memory.
Some things need no retaliation; time, truth and conduct speak for themselves.

Some awards honour the recipient. Occasionally, the recipient honours the award.
India's National Security Adviser Ajit Doval receiving the Lokmanya Tilak National Award 2026 is one such moment.
No one and I mean NO ONE thinks more deeply and relentlessly about India: its security, its sovereignty, its strategic independence and its rise as a global power.
NSA Doval has devoted his life to making India stronger, often silently and without seeking recognition.
The award could not have found a more deserving Indian.
FCRA | WHY DOES INDIA NEED IT?
Foreign contributions have long required a regulatory framework in India.
The FCRA 1976 established the statutory framework for regulating the acceptance and utilisation of foreign contributions and foreign hospitality.
As India evolved, so did the framework.
In 2006, during the UPA government, a Bill was introduced in Parliament to replace the 1976 Act. It eventually became the FCRA 2010, enacted in 2010 and brought into force in 2011.
The framework was subsequently strengthened through amendments, including significant changes in 2020.
1976 → 2010 → 2020 → 2026
This represents the continuing evolution of India’s framework for regulating foreign contributions in response to changing realities around foreign funding, financial flows, transparency and accountability.
The proposed amendments represent the next stage of that evolution.
So, let us understand what is being proposed, why it matters, and how it may strengthen the framework for modern India.
