4 tonnes of footwear left behind after Mumbai’s Ganpati processions
After the Lalbaug Ganpati processions, BMC collected nearly 4 tonnes of abandoned footwear from the streets.

Remembering Khashaba Jadhav
On this day in 1984, Maharashtra lost one of its greatest sporting heroes.
Khashaba Dadasaheb Jadhav, the wrestler from Goleshwar near Karad, made history at the 1952 Helsinki Olympics by winning a bronze medal in freestyle wrestling.
It was independent India’s first individual Olympic medal.
He had competed at the 1948 London Olympics too, finishing sixth, before returning four years later to create history.
Known as the “Pocket Dynamo”, Jadhav went on to serve in the Maharashtra Police, eventually retiring as an Assistant Commissioner of Police.

When Mumbai’s railway map was also a picnic guide.
This map from the 1968 Western Railway timetable shows Mumbai’s suburban network alongside popular picnic spots.
Back then, trains were often more than half empty after Bandra and almost empty on Sundays. So the railways had to market these stations as gateways to weekend escapes.
Families travelled by train to places like Vehar Lake, Kanheri Caves, Gorai and ‘Bassein’ Fort. From Santa Cruz to Virar, much of the landscape was still lush and green, dotted with palms.

Abhijeet Dipke is Kejriwal 2.0.
• Kejriwal had Anna Hazare. Dipke has Sonam Wangchuk.
• Kejriwal started his fast after Anna ended his. Dipke started his fast after Sonam.
• Kejriwal cried. Dipke cried.
• Kejriwal was slapped. Dipke was also slapped.
• Kejriwal had ink thrown at him. Dipke did too.
• Kejriwal said his movement was not political. Dipke also says his movement is not political.
• Both gained weight during their protests.
• Both claim to be protesting to bring change and doing meaningless things.
Juhu Beach, 1976.
More Goa than Mumbai. Calm, unhurried, and clean.
A different rhythm by the sea. Listen to the narrator say, “Bombay has some of the finest beaches in India.”

No wonder our vegetables, fruits, rice, grains have lost all their nutrition. Government backed hydropower plants first extract all the electricity and power from water at dams, then release that same exhausted water into canals for irrigation. Imagine crops being watered with powerless and infertile water. How can anything nutritious grow from it? That is why agricultural produce is declining in both quantity and quality. The science is obvious
#WATCH | Mumbai, Maharashtra: Shiv Sena (UBT) MLA Aaditya Thackeray said, "We are protecting Lord Ram from the BJP. The BJP has now become the 'Babar Janata Party.' The BJP is bringing up the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) debate only to distract the country from the alleged Ram Mandir loot. We will not let that happen. Let's debate the UCC on its merits, and we will support it..."
He also says, "The Supreme Court should step in with a fair probe into the alleged Ram Mandir loot."

I never wished a support but #Ratnagiri petroglyphs need support from you guys for they hold a crucial and unsettling key to the history untold.
I need local volunteers for more information and put pressure on the sleepy government led by @narendramodi and defunct @ASIGoI
