Ask a question. Get blocked.
China’s MFA posted a PLA guard stepping around a man in a wheelchair: “the people’s army makes way for the people.” @Terenceshen asked the obvious—and got blocked.
When a state stages decency for a foreign audience, the gesture isn’t the story. The unease behind it is.

A clear-eyed read. Thank you for speaking up, @Terence
I shed no tears for the TMC’s self-destruction. My only hope is that the political culture of the vandals doesn’t start contaminating the W.Bengal BJP. We in the BJP have to be always wary of false friends who are today cosying up to us because they need to wash away their past sins. The detox of Bengal cannot be left incomplete.
“MeitY received an input from the IB to block the X account of Cockroach Janta Party, citing that it posed a threat to the sovereignty of India.
"The IB believed that the account was posting inflammatory content through its account, which could have jeopardised the country’s national security.” the official said on condition of anonymity since such blocking orders are issued under a confidential framework."
“In particular, the concern stemmed from the fact that the account’s content was gaining traction among young people.”

This interview by @BretBaier is an absolute must-watch for a sense of where Trump's head is at on China, Taiwan, and the relationship between security and economic threats as he seems them. Let's just say, if you've worked on U.S.-China relations or Taiwan policy in or out of government in a prior administration, this is not conventional stuff.
JUST IN: John Eastman, the conservative attorney who helped devise President Trump's last ditch strategy to overturn the 2020 presidential election, has officially been disbarred, per the California Supreme Court.:
I talked to @WSJ about why the Strait of Hormuz matters so much to the endgame of this war “To the Iranians, the Strait of Hormuz now perhaps matters more than the nuclear program. The nuclear program didn’t provide them with any deterrence,” the Strait can.

The upshot of China-Pakistan 5 point statement on the war is that China's answer to being asked to get involved was definitely not "no." The statement is an opening for Beijing to step in. And Pakistan Army Chief, Munir, who has been talking to Trump and Vance, was also in Beijing, which makes all this all the more interesting.
Pakistan is currently the only viable channel for the US to establish a communication channel with Iran after the failure of mediation by Oman.
If Trump was serious about mediation he could have accepted the major concessions made by Iran as divulged by Oman and ended the war but he chose escalation .
He has no credibility with the Iranians.
The terms of both sides for a settlement as reported in the media are too far apart to visualise a realistic compromise.
Israel, either by design or otherwise, is not part of these mediation attempts. It is constantly taking escalatory steps.
The US is unwilling or unable to control Israel.
Pakistan is caught in a bind and feels compelled to play a role in helping winding down the conflict of it can be of service.
It does not want its defence pact with Saudi Arabia to get activated if Saudi Arabia joins the war actively against Iran and the latter retaliates massively.
Iran is Pakistan’s direct neighbour and that relationship has to be managed with care.
Saudi Arabia has an interest in weakening Iran. So has Israel. Saudi Arabia and Israel have been in active communication under the radar.
Pakistan can’t afford to be seen on the side of Israel against Iran. Domestically it can have serious political, sectarian and social repercussions.
India has no such pressures to put itself at the service of US or Saudi Arabia or Iran although our interests are at stake in a big way.
US intentions are unclear and Trump is not to be trusted.
We should not allow ourselves to be used by the US .
We should not be in competition with Pakistan as our dilemmas are different.
We should be in touch with all sides to press for ending the war, be active in all round diplomacy but not insert ourselves into the conflict as a go between.
Our presidency of BRICS gives us a platform for all round constructive diplomacy.
I was in a 2 hour briefing today on the Iran War. All the briefings are closed, because Trump can't defend this war in public.
I obviously can't disclose classified info, but you deserve to know how incoherent and incomplete these war plans are.

A Torpedo in India’s Backyard: Why the U.S. Strike Looks Like An Unfriendly Act
The U.S. torpedoing of the Iranian frigate IRIS Dena in India’s maritime backyard is more than a battlefield event; it is a strategic embarrassment for New Delhi. The ship had just participated in India’s flagship MILAN-2026 naval exercise, where, along with 18 other foreign warships, it sailed as a diplomatic guest of the Indian Navy.
By sinking a vessel returning from an Indian-hosted multilateral exercise, Washington effectively turned India’s maritime neighborhood into a war zone, raising uncomfortable questions about India’s authority in its own backyard.
In diplomatic terms, the strike violated the unwritten code of naval hospitality. Attacking a ship immediately after it leaves a host’s waters is widely seen as a slight to that host. The message to participating navies is stark: attending India’s exercises may not guarantee safety once they sail away.
The implications go deeper. Prime Minister Modi’s MAHASAGAR vision — positioning India as the Indian Ocean’s “preferred security partner” — rests on the idea that New Delhi can convene cooperation and maintain stability in the region. The U.S. strike shattered that image by demonstrating that a distant power can employ lethal force in India’s maritime backyard without coordination.
Worse, the attack occurred near Sri Lanka, just south of India’s maritime boundary, precisely the space India hopes to keep insulated from Middle Eastern wars. Instead, the Indian Ocean suddenly looks like an extension of that conflict.
The result is a jarring paradox: Washington may see the torpedoing as legitimate wartime action against an enemy vessel, but from New Delhi’s vantage point it was an unfriendly act — one that undermined India’s diplomacy, its convening power and its claim to regional maritime leadership.
In one torpedo strike, American hard power has punctured India’s carefully cultivated soft power.
