In the past 2-3 years, we have mainly worked remotely, having many meetings from home. Yet I see that people use a simple laptop and low-speed Internet connection. This means that the impression of video meetings could be much better.

If you (mostly) work from home, try to update the following:

𝟭. 𝗚𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗲𝘅𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗰𝗮𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗮 (in front of you)

𝟮. 𝗚𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗲𝘁 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 (at least 100/10Mbps)

𝟯. 𝗘𝘅𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗺𝗶𝗰𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗵𝗼𝗻𝗲

With this, you will sound and be seen much differently (better). Check the difference in the sound recording between the laptop and the ext. mic I recorded here (https://t.co/Kco57ib8ET). Also, you can use quality headsets such as Bose QuietComfort 45 or similar if you don't want an external microphone.

In addition to this, I also use the following equipment:

Additionally, I use, which is not in the picture: 𝗠𝗮𝗰𝗕𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝗣𝗿𝗼 𝟭𝟲" with 16GB RAM, 𝗜𝗣𝗮𝗱 6th gen 9,7" Wifi, primarily for drawing, with some iPhone devices for the Apple ecosystem, and also 𝗔𝗺𝗮𝘇𝗼𝗻'𝘀 𝟲.𝟴" 𝗣𝗮𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘄𝗵𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝗞𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗹𝗲 𝗣𝗮𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘄𝗵𝗶𝘁𝗲 for reading books (the most important thing of all).

Regarding my software setup, when coding, I work primarily in 𝗩𝗶𝘀𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗶𝗼 and 𝗩𝗶𝘀𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗶𝗼 𝗖𝗼𝗱𝗲, and sometimes 𝗝𝗲𝘁𝗕𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘀 𝗥𝗶���𝗲𝗿 too. For the command line, I use 𝗠𝗶𝗰𝗿𝗼𝘀𝗼𝗳𝘁 𝗧𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗶��𝗮𝗹 primarily for some general but also PowerShell stuff.

Software Architecture: The Hard Parts

Закінчив щойно ще одну книгу, яку я читав дуже зацікавлено. На відміну від попередньої, Software Architect, де йдеться про більш організаційні штуки та personal traits, в цій все-таки більш технічна розмова.

Чого вартували тільки дві великі частини на 200+ сторінок, де розглядався сценарій декомпозиції моноліта в сервісну архітектуру з подальшою міграцією в мікросервіси. А потім ще й приклад з міграцією назад із (буквально) "мікро"-сервісів в бік більш збалансованих та адекватних мікросервісів.

Все це супроводжується набором правил, шаблонів та стратегій, як приймати рішення, враховувати trade-off й так далі й тому подібне.

Особисто вважаю що книга варта своїх грошей, упор на технічну складову з прикладами й все це на 400 сторінок майже. Тож — рекомендую.
