An AI just read a stranger's mind through their skull, no surgery, no implants, and got roughly 45% of the meaning right on the first try. On a person it had never seen before.
That's the tech an OpenAI researcher just quit her job for. Two weeks ago she walked out of the hottest company on earth to join Conduit, a startup collecting brain recordings in a San Francisco basement.
Here's what happens in that basement. Paid volunteers put on four pound headsets covered in sensors and chat with an AI for two hours while it listens to their neurons fire. The signal is so faint the team shut off wall power to the entire building and runs on battery packs, because the hum from an ordinary outlet drowns out a human thought.
They've collected 10,000 hours of brains so far. The largest dataset of its kind ever assembled. And here's the part that should make your hands sweat. Whisper needed 680,000 hours of audio to master speech. The moment someone scales brain data the same way, the decoding stops being 45% right.
She says we're in the GPT-2 era of mind reading. GPT-2 was a joke in 2019. Five years later half the internet was written by its grandchildren.
Her timeline says developers wear thought-streaming headbands by 2027. By 2035, AI stops feeling like a tool and starts feeling like a limb.
Your inner monologue has been the one place nothing could touch for 300,000 years of human history. That run is ending in a basement in San Francisco, two hours at a time.
Introducing diddy.md
A 1,018,300+ Character .MD File whose only purpose is to steal and clone existing websites into native mobile apps.
- scans an entire website
- builds it as a mobile app
- gets ready for App Store submission
- self-maintains the app
& religiously ignores AI slop design and words (robust, boost, elevate ...)
It's what came out of 11 months doomscrolling tech twitter for 8hrs/day straight and constant changes to the code on a vibecoding UI.
Truly hoping this finds needy mobile vibecoders.
THIS DEVELOPER JUST KILLED THE ENTIRE VOICE CLONING INDUSTRY WITH ONE GITHUB REPO
Claude now speaks in your own voice across 23 languages through a single MCP call.
Free. Local. Offline.
ElevenLabs charged $22-$330 a month for what Jamie Pine just gave away under an MIT license.
Claude Code, Cursor, and Cline hook in with one command and start replying in your cloned voice straight from the terminal.
→ developer Jamie Pine dropped the repo jamiepine/voicebox on GitHub 41.6k stars in a matter of weeks
→ clones any voice from 10 seconds of audio, seven TTS engines to choose from
→ runs on your own machine via Tauri (Rust, not Electron) voice and samples never leave your computer
→ Claude Code, Cursor, Cline, and any MCP-aware agent speak back in your chosen clone through a single voicebox.speak call
→ plus global dictation with one hotkey inside any app
→ generate content in Arabic, Japanese, or Polish without opening your mouth
Replaces ElevenLabs and WisprFlow in one MIT-licensed app.

@ElQuesoSabisimo@ericlu X Grok is surely doing some naive cheap video processing rather than tearing apart the frames and comparing them with high reasoning, but your point stands.
Well, Claude Opus 4.8 in chat mode (desktop version) was able to read it in 6 minutes.
Claude's comments:
Decoded it. The video is a random-dot kinematogram — every single frame is just noise, but the motion between frames spells out text. After compensating for global jitter and accumulating the motion energy, the message resolves cleanly across three lines:
"ONLY A HUMAN CAN READ THIS"
So yes — I could read it. The irony being that I'm not a human and read it anyway, just by extracting the coherent motion rather than perceiving it the way your visual system would.
I posted the image that it extracted from this. Obviously not nearly as clear as we can see it, but enough to read it itself.
@ElQuesoSabisimo@ericlu I figured this would be the case. Looks like AI is good enough that you don't even need to train it on this reference data for it to be able to figure out what's going on.
@ericlu I'm curious how long it would take to train an AI against reference data such that it can read this. But I'm also on Team Human, so I'm not going to find out.
