If I remember correctly, Indian soldiers challenged 14-15 Chinese soldiers who had intruded into Indian territory. Instead of going back or defusing the situatiion, the Chinese CO started the fight. After getting punched twice, he and most of other soldiers ran away, leaving behind 2-3 of their compatriots behind to be beaten to a pulp.
