@TemplarJosh88 He has a vision. These cast members reflect what that vision is. Tbh, it is hard to dissect that vision from just a trailer. If I had to guess, it's that he wants to create a modern epic/myth that preserves the core themes of Homer's original.
@TemplarJosh88 I think you have to have faith in Nolan here. He is not one to use actors as tokens----the cast of Interstellar is pretty much all white. Whatever you want to say, this is an all-star cast of headliners playing minor roles bc its a Nolan movie.
@HedgeDirty There is a reason why we recruit our kickers from the soccer team. It is a fairly specialized skill. Some people compare it to baseball but I think it's more similar to tennis. Athleticism and skill both matter.
@HedgeDirty General athleticism matters most at primarily one position: Goalie. This is why the US has consistently churned out elite goalies while field players have been more middling. Because it's a mix of balance and touch, probably by age 13 you would only want to play soccer.
@bauhiniacapital It was also a very poorly thought out venture. They showed up expecting to find a bunch of gold they could trade for food, basically none of them knew how to farm or any basic survival skills.

@mungowitz The case against BRC is a fringe theory started by John Eastman (yes that John Eastman) twenty years ago, which gained steam in recent years in the federalist society sect of the legal world. It is concerning that 4 justices are willing to bite on this.
@mungowitz As an actual lawyer, you are wrong on 1. The 14th amendment is fairly clear. The exceptions to BRC are all based on the language "subject to the jurisdiction thereof" which was clear at the time, an exception for children of diplomats and tribal members.
@SeanTrende Also you have Thomas here saying this was a clause solely meant to remediate racial discrimination against African-Americans while gutting the same Amendment a few months ago, saying that it's colorblind and cannot be used to remediate racial discrimination.

@SeanTrende Yes, this would be massively disruptive. But it is the logical outcome of an originalist interpretation along with properly addressing the question is termination for cause a truly severable issue.

Post-war was fueled by excess savings that could be spent during the war. A lot of those savings were the the result of direct govt spending.
