@Fiona_Forde_Irl@BikerHikerTechy@kopette2005 The Oracle (aka Tom Spalding) mentioned to me some years ago that it was a route that the Roman Catholics took to their church
I suspect he will be doing a short evening class in Ashton in Spring 25 if you wish to ask him there

The memorial for the 9 Logan children who all died young. The 6 sons & 3 daughters are individually shown as at the age they were when they died. Their names are carved above each figure. 2 of the girls were called Jean, suggesting the parents reused the name of a deceased child.
So,
so you think you can tell
Heaven from Hell,
blue skies from pain
Can you tell a green field
from a cold steel rail?
A smile from a veil?
Do you think you can tell?
Did they get you to trade
your heroes for ghosts?
Hot ashes for trees?
Hot air for a cool breeze?
Cold comfort for change?
Did you exchange
A walk-on part in the war
for a lead role in a cage?
How I wish,
how I wish you were here
We're just two lost souls
swimming in a fishbowl,
year after year
Running over the same old ground
What have we found?
The same old fears
Wish you were here

As we prepare to pause on Remembrance Sunday, I thought people would be interested to see this plaque I found, claiming Castle Street, Farnham in Surrey, is where the first ever two minute silence was observed.
The beautiful 'tin-and-timber' Church of Our Lady & Guardian Angels in Sallins, County Kildare. The centenary of its dedication was celebrated this year.
That is very true. So many fine / distinctive 20th century buildings lost in recent years, large and (as here) small. Great to see this example bucking the trend!
Into the distance, a ribbon of black
Stretched to the point of no turning back
A flight of fancy on a windswept field
Standing alone my senses reeled
A fatal attraction is holding me fast
How can I escape this irresistible grasp?
Can't keep my eyes from the circling sky
Tongue-tied and twisted
Just an earth-bound misfit, I
Ice is forming on the tips of my wings
Unheeded warnings, I thought, I thought of everything
No navigator to find my way home
Unladen empty and turned to stone
A soul in tension that's learning to fly
Condition grounded but determined to try
Can't keep my eyes from the circling skies
Tongue-tied and twisted
Just an earth-bound misfit, I
Above the planet on a wing and a prayer
My grubby halo, a vapour trail in the empty air
Across the clouds I see my shadow fly
Out of the corner of my watering eye
A dream unthreatened by the morning light
Could blow this soul right through the roof of the night
There's no sensation to compare with this
Suspended animation, a state of bliss
Can't keep my mind from the circling skies
Tongue-tied and twisted
Just an earth-bound misfit, I

The grass was greener
The light was brighter
The taste was sweeter
The nights of wonder
With friends surrounded
The dawn mist glowing
The water flowing
The endless river
Forever and ever

A Tailor’s soul ascends to heaven, leaving behind his Scissors & his Iron. The hourglass lies on its side to show us that his lifetime has stopped, whilst the bones show us that his mortal remains rest in the earth. All of Life, Death & New Life are here.
Immediate initial thought is that I preferred
The Undertaking - Thomas Lynch
What Remains - Rupert Callender
Time rattling around the brain will determine the final ranking
And some time make the time to drive out west
Into County Clare, along the Flaggy Shore,
In September or October, when the wind
And the light are working off each other
So that the ocean on one side is wild
Today marks the 53rd anniversary of the release of Pink Floyd's sixth studio album Meddle, which includes the 23-minute long epic Echoes, one of the most prominent songs in the band’s discography.
