Last night, I met with the leaders of the Pakistani-American community, where we discussed the current attacks on democracy in Pakistan. Whether it is the rule of law or treatment of Imran Khan, we must all be invested in the support of strong democracies around the world.
Great to join the Southeast Michigan Pakistani community last night to honor the 13th President of Pakistan Arif Ur Rehman Alvi. We discussed the U.S.-Pakistan relationship and the need for the Pakistani government to release Imran Khan and other political prisoners. It was an important conversation, thank you for having me.

Important piece by @FoxNews on Imran Khan. While I have many disagreements with Mr Khan, the Pakistani government should not be jailing its political opponents.
Free Imran Khan
On Monday @RepAlGreen met with Mohsin Naqvi, the "Butcher of Islamabad"
Green is a member of the House 🇵🇰 Caucus and should be aware of the role that Naqvi played in anti-democratic violence in 🇵🇰
Express your discontent with Rep Green here: https://t.co/tR6KOy2lns

As PAKPAC reflects on its mission and envisions the future, Pakistani Americans stand at a pivotal moment in this journey. Together, we share an extraordinary vision that unites us all. PakPac continues to achieve remarkable milestones. and our goal remains steadfast: to expand PAKPAC to every corner of the United States, transforming it into a strong and deeply rooted grassroots organization across the nation.
From just two chapters two years ago to an impressive seventeen chapters today—with many more in progress—we are incredibly proud of everyone who has stepped forward to turn PAKPAC from an organization into a powerful movement. Your dedication and commitment inspire us to keep pushing forward.
Our focus remains sharp and unwavering. This journey is not merely about growth; it’s about harnessing our collective political capital and influence to serve Pakistan and Pakistani Americans with integrity and purpose. Our energy is also devoted to advancing Pakistan’s progress, demanding free and fair elections, fostering a thriving democracy, and upholding civil liberties.
We aim to strengthen and elevate the relationship between the United States and Pakistan while transforming PakPac into the most influential and impactful Pakistani-American organization in the nation. Together, we will continue to build a brighter future, driven by unity, purpose, and unwavering determination despite negative efforts and rants of some people who have failed and want to side track our energy and resolve.
Thank you for being part of this extraordinary journey where we will continue to march forward.
It was an incredible kickoff for our new Florida Chapter.
Thank you to Khalid Mirza, the President of the PAKPAC Florida Chapter, for all of your work in launching this rapidly growing chapter
We can’t wait to see what this rapidly growing chapter can accomplish!
Congratulations to PAKPAC ally @RepMikeLawler on his new role as Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on Middle East, North Africa, and Central Asia
We look forward to working with you, Congressman!
Thank you @CongresswomanSC for stopping by PAKPAC's 2025 National Board Retreat and listening to us about the human rights violations in Pakistan and the contributions of Pakistan-Americans on this issue
We can't wait to work with you in the 119th Congress and beyond!
Any government that murders its own innocent citizens is illegitimate, and the November killings by Pakistani forces is no exception. No regime should silence its people through violence. I stand with my Pakistani brothers and sisters in calling for justice and freedom.
Thank you to the 46 influential members of Congress who wrote to the Biden administration asking them to implement the provisions of H.Res.901 which calls for the release of political prisoners including Imran Khan
Read the letter/see who signed below:
Today over 65 members of Congress sent a bipartisan letter to @SecBlinken urging him to prioritize the promotion and protection of democracy and human rights in Pakistan
Together Pakistani-Americans are raising their voices in DC
See the letter and our statement below (1/2)
I’ve supported legislation in the House with both my Republican and Democrat friends expressing support for democracy and human rights in Pakistan.
Following Pakistan’s general elections yesterday there have been reports of interference and harassment at the polls...
The sanctity of free and fair elections is pivotal to upholding democracy around the globe. I stand by calls from the @StateDept to investigate claims of election fraud or interference in Pakistan. Your vote is your freedom.
