ARTEMIS II🚨: In the mission, the 4 astronauts will travel 400,000 km from Earth, which would be the farthest any human has ever gone in all of humanity.
Liftoff.
The Artemis II mission launched from @NASAKennedy at 6:35pm ET (2235 UTC), propelling four astronauts on a journey around the Moon.
Artemis II will pave the way for future Moon landings, as well as the next giant leap — astronauts on Mars.

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) has announced that final, system-wide testing for Artemis Il, the first crewed lunar spaceflight mission by the United States since Apollo 17 in 1972, will begin in roughly two weeks, with the earliest launch date scheduled for February 6, 2026.
Happy New Year 🌔
At the stroke of midnight, we begin a new year—the year we will fly around the Moon with humans. In as early as February, the Artemis II crew will travel approximately 685,000 miles (~1.1 million km) from Earth, venture around the Moon, and return home.
The Moon is calling! 🚀
Inside the Vehicle Assembly Building at @NASAKennedy, some of the retractable platforms have been pulled away from the SLS and Orion spacecraft, marking a major milestone on the road to launch.
Artemis II is one step closer to liftoff.
"Merry Christmas, and God bless all of you—all of you on the good Earth"
Astronauts orbited the Moon for the first time in history on Christmas Eve, 1968. On their fourth orbit, they captured the sight of the Earth rising over the Moon's horizon, a photo dubbed "Earthrise."
