@android_poet@grok I like Flutter when native rendering performance and development speed is key (it's somehow faster than Jetpack Compose and SwiftUI). But KMP is my favorite tech for actual "native" apps. I used RN at my last job and most of the time was spent solving dependency update issues.
Before someone cites the benchmarks. I remember when K2 was beating Claude in coding benchmarks. My experience with it was quite a bit different, it was vastly worse at code and I ended up switching back to Claude. Hence my hesitation to switch based on benchmarks alone.
I'm excited by the rollout of #Gemini 3 but baffled by the fact that Gemini CLI is pinned to 2.5 for everyone but Ultra subscribers. As an existing Claude Code Max user, is it worth making the switch? Seems like a confusing move by @Google to not even let us test it out.
@WrittenByJohnny@PovilasKorop Yeah I remember the ugliness of trying to get Laravel working under Windows ten years ago (Vagrant anyone?) eventually had to buy a Mac to continue PHP development. Coming back, I saw an easy way to get started with Laravel and lamented the price tag if I wanted DBs
#Omarchy has made me love working with computers all over again. It might be a hype train. But one I'm happy to ride ๐. Now I just need to work up the courage to learn #NeoVim...
@shivi1026 I tell everyone to take the time and the money they would have spent on College and actually build something with it. When I hire, I don't care about degrees, I care about whether they can actually do the job. The two are very different
Moving from "It Works" to "It Feels Great" is the remaining 20% most people skip that yields 80% of the result. And it normally goes unnoticed or unappreciated. High praise and silence are the two markers of resounding success.
@shrisha4real@teej_dv Yeah Omarchy came with LazyVim which I've found to be a very gentle introduction. I tried rolling my own config at first AND learning how it works and that was too much overwhelm ๐
Successfully did an afternoon's worth of work in #Nvim. A big thank you to the whole community for your tips and support. I'm still very slow but I think I could get used to this...
@hunkybill Oh I just mean the Hype Train of Omarchy, not Linux generally (which I've worked with off and on for 25 years). Always grateful for more accessible tools to help expand its reach. I'm slowly growing accustomed to NVim and it's been a fun ride.
I really don't see the point of passwords if you're just going to get me to go through a MFA step anyway. I don't get this corporate obsession with needless complexity. #rant
Solving problems and solving emotions feel like the exact same thing. If something feels harder than it should be, likely you're not solving the problem, you're trying to solve how the problem makes you feel. One is quantifiable, one is not.
@tm23twt Omarchy is the way to go I think if you want a system that feels unique and leans into Linux's strengths and isn't just a clone of Windows or OSX. Just be prepared for a couple days of low productivity while you adjust.
@saltyAom This is probably the most refreshing take I've heard on the topic so far. Context so often defines what the "right" way of doing something is. Though it's been interesting hearing takes from both sides.
