Awful segment on CBC this morning with the premise that Palestinians and Israelis just need to “listen” and “empathize” with each other, protests are divisive and against Canadian values of “love” and “respect,” and the problem is just that “both sides” don’t talk to each other.
Canada is one of the most disturbing of Europe’s settler colonies because of their ability to spread propaganda about being “a peaceful nice country” but in reality be a violent white supremacy born out of the ethnic cleaning of indigenous people.

We are human beings like the rest of you. Stop dehumanising us. We have feelings and emotions. We have a right to live.
We should not be normalizing imprisonment for anyone, and especially not for political dissent. Treating prison like some easy punishment that is minimal is extremely carceral thinking. You can’t claim abolition then say prison is not a big deal.
