If one immigrates to any given country, they must respect the laws and culture of that country and contribute to that country to the best of their ability, doing no harm.
That applies to ALL countries.
What’s more likely? @elonmusk suddenly changed his personality in the last 6 months and became a terrible evil person or the media have put him on their hit list?
Bizarre to watch the narrative change from hero to villain in such a short space of time, which very co-incidentally happened when he switched from democrat to republican.
Even if you disagree with his political views, have the maturity to appreciate his exceptional contribution to humanity vs intense blanket hatred of his entire being.
I hope he makes it though this.
Watched my wife (age 29 with two kids under age of 4) die a slow painful death from brain cancer. We talked at length about it over the course of it, and I came to the conclusion that region is simply a story for scared adults. When you face the reality of death, it’s hard to find room for a compassionate all loving deity working his magic. Not someone I would worship that’s for certain.
Just discovered...
"The surname Nicholson was first found in on the Isle of Skye. The story of the Nicholson family stretches back through time to the Viking settlers who populated the rugged shores of Scotland in the Medieval era."
and also...
"Nicholson is derived from the Greek word "Nikolaos" meaning "conqueror of people"
Moment of perspective: Watched Sherlock Holmes / Game Of Shadows, again.
I love that movie.
Set in the 1890’s and they show up to the stag do in a gasoline engine powered buggy … and Shirley announces “there will be one of these in every home in every city”
It got me thinking about how far we have come in the last 100 years.
What if you took Sherlock and popped him into a @Tesla ?
First of all its electric powered engine would look to him like something from a sci fi movie, with the ability to gather its fuel from the sun. If we stopped there I believe he would be sufficiently impressed.
But then he would sit down inside a cockpit of technology that would be indistinguishable from magic… a touch screen, with maps of the entire earth , navigating your route to any place in an instant, with time calculations, charging points and high definition satellite imagery.
Video calling anybody anywhere on earth. Movies indistinguishable from reality, games that would not make sense. Scratch beyond the entertainment and he would discover a digital copy of all the world’s knowledge , catalogued and available for reading in some form or another, usually with a video explanation to match.
Then he would touch the accelerator… it would feel like flying. Then enabling FSD, and the futuristic machine would take over, changing lanes, stopping, and driving wherever you tell it to go.
There are many aspects of today’s technology that are jaw dropping and inspiring but I liked this very basic, direct comparison of a car from the 1900’s with a car 130 years later.
It easy to be cynical in this day and age, but we are very much living in the future. Big thanks to visionary humans like @elonmusk who are propelling us forward , I’m glad to be here to witness it!
Common sentiment is that cryptos compete with one another in a zero-sum game. This is why each tribe is so tribalistic. BTC maxis hate ETH. ETH maxis hate SOL. Everyone hates XRP, and so on.
But empirically, over a decade, these assets rise and fall together. Extreme correlation of one asset doing well when others are doing well, and vice versa.
But all of it—all of the wild bickering mass of true innovation and sinful grift and everything in between that is crypto—is really a collective civilizational protest against fiat, the banking system, and a regime of oppression.
And ultimately, this chaotic diversity of assets, engineering tradeoffs, personalities, time preferences, and aesthetic tastes, is a fundamental and proper consequence of decentralization—that most important virtue with which Bitcoin was first imbued and from which every financial experiment shall and must be tried.
So yes, avoid the garbage, expose the fraud, but recognize that this hurtling force of energy is fundamentally the same impulse, the same essential innovation, expressed through a million subjective human lenses...
...and it is heading directly into the core of the Death Star which is so, so fucked.
@waitbutwhy It’s literally cheating. Drives me nuts. All the diving and fake injuries to get a free kick or waste time is so shitty. Watch a game of rugby and the code of honour that goes with it.
