You cannot pass a single highway toll without paying.
Not one.
That much accuracy and fool-proof
1.66 lakh vehicles, per hr, in various parts of country .
FASTag hits. Money deducted. Boom opens. In 3 seconds.
System never down. Power backup, 2 ISPs, scanner backup. Because if it's down for 10 mins, they lose lakhs.
Now come to GST, MCA & Income Tax.
On 20th - GSTN slow.
On 31st July, 30th Sept, 31st Oct - Income Tax portal down.
October and November- MCA portal down.
"Portal under maintenance"
"Don't panic, trying to file"
Why can't we adopt the same SOP?
Toll SOP is simple:
• Uptime is money, so you ensure uptime.
• If system fails, operator is penalised.
• If tag fails, manager comes in 2 mins.
In tax and MCA portals:
• If system fails, TAXPAYER/stakeholder is penalised with late fee.
• Vendor gets paid anyway.
• Grievance goes auto-closed.
NHAI proved India CAN build world-class, zero-downtime systems.
If FASTag can handle 10 lakh extra cars on Diwali without crashing, why can't GSTN income tax and MCA handle last minute rush?
Fix accountability.
Link Infosys/GSTN/ LT payment to uptime.
1 hour down on due date = Rs 10 cr penalty + auto extension.
Until then, toll booths will remain more efficient than tax portals.

When you realise that there is MDR on GST and also GST on MDR 😭
If you buy something for 5k, GST is 900, You pay 5900
MDR 0.4% applied on 5900 & not 5k which is 23.6
Then, there is again GST of 18% on MDR which makes MDR charges 27.8
So effectively, MDR is 0.56% and not 0.4%

RBI surplus to Govt : ₹2.87 Lakh Crores (US$30 Bn)
Total listed bank profits : ₹4.11 Lakh Crores (US$42 Bn)
NPCI - which runs UPI pre tax ‘surplus’ : ₹ 1,888 crores (US$200 Mn)
To nuksaan kis ka ho raha hai UPI se aur kaunsi subsidy de rahi hai Govt UPI pe jo chubh rahi hai?
Cost of running ATMs and cash logistics in India is ₹30,500 crores (US$ 3.0 Bn). If you want to optimise shut ATMs and promote UPI instead.
Any levy on UPI is just tax collection. UPI is the one scientific achievement of India everyone acknowledges par ab tax ki bali chadhegi.
UPI Charges Row | Ashneer Grover Exclusive
If I transfer ₹1 lakh to my friend through UPI, or I pay ₹3,000 using a QR code, what is the cost of running the system? The cost is the same. So, if I transfer ₹1 lakh to my friend, nobody is making money from it. But if I make a payment of ₹2,500 to a small shopkeeper then the government wants to put charges, what’s the logic? — @Ashneer_Grover speaks to @shreyadhoundial
Bhai Chandra sahab ke ₹22,000 crores maaf nahi karte to India mein UPI agle 20 saal tak free chal jaata by government’s number of ₹8,000 crores subsidy.
Also NPCI - which runs UPI has ₹6,119 hard cash on its balance sheet and pre tax operating profit of ₹1,900 crores. NPCI apne cash pe and profits par zindagi bhar UPI free chala sakti hai. Government ka kuchh lena dena hi nahi hai. Government earned ₹1,000 crores tax from NPCI last year.
