President Trump has made a series of profound strategic errors regarding Iran, culminating in the transformation of the country into an increasingly militarized state dominated by the terrorist organization known as the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
During the twelve day war, he repeatedly restrained Prime Minister @netanyahu rather than fully supporting Israel in its efforts to dismantle the Islamic regime and eliminate its military infrastructure.
On numerous occasions, @POTUS publicly encouraged the Iranian people to rise up against the regime, implying that the United States military would stand behind them and provide protection. Countless public statements and recordings of these promises remain available online.
The Iranian people responded. Thousands took to the streets and called upon President Trump for assistance. Yet that assistance never materialized. The people were left unarmed, isolated, and defenseless against one of the most brutal and repressive terrorist organizations in the modern world.
This historic miscalculation resulted in catastrophic consequences, including more than 45,000 civilian deaths and a continuous wave of executions since January, with reports indicating more than 700 hangings within a three month period alone.
Eventually, the long promised intervention appeared to arrive with the beginning of Operation Epic Fury. Across Iran, many citizens celebrated as military strikes intensified, believing that the final destruction of the Islamic regime had at last begun. Videos emerged of Iranians dancing and cheering while bombs fell upon regime targets, not out of support for war itself, but out of hope for liberation from decades of tyranny.
However, at the very moment the regime appeared closest to collapse, @POTUS repeated what may become one of the greatest strategic mistakes of his presidency by calling for a ceasefire.
Now, he seeks negotiations with the very individuals responsible for the oppression, torture, and mass killing of the Iranian people, effectively preserving the terrorist apparatus in power. In doing so, Trump chose the survival of the regime over the freedom of the Iranian people. Simultaneously, he undermined America’s most important regional ally, Israel, by preventing the complete destruction of its primary adversary.
There is no meaningful or sustainable “good deal” to be achieved with the Islamic Republic.
At the same time, @POTUS repeatedly claimed that the IRGC Navy and Air Force had been completely destroyed and that the United States possessed full operational control over the Strait of Hormuz. If these claims are accurate, then an obvious question arises: why would a 25 billion dollar agreement be necessary in order to reopen the strait?
These negotiations can therefore be interpreted in only one way: as a humiliating strategic defeat for the United States on the global stage.
@POTUS demonstrated that the United States was incapable of decisively defeating a terrorist organization that effectively lacks a conventional navy or air force. He betrayed America’s closest ally, Israel, by preserving the power structure of its enemies. More importantly, he betrayed ninety million Iranians and shattered what remained of trust, goodwill, and hope toward the United States for generations to come.
