For a state hosting the World Cup, this level of recklessness is truly admirable because nothing says “welcome, football fans” quite like putting their lives at risk. And of course, with the memories of 9/11 still painfully fresh, what better time to tempt fate?
US Central Command says it carried out “self-defence” strikes across Iran for a second day, while Iranian military leadership says the Strait of Hormuz has been closed in response to recent US attacks.

@LAlionzi Well done! But seriously, what caused the delay? Have those root causes been properly put to rest, or are they just hiding under the rug waiting to trip us again? Because if not, this might be nothing more than a fancy band-aid on a broken leg. A sustainable solution is needed.
Of course, marble bathrooms for the Speaker while taxpayers can’t afford a meal. How selfish of us to want roads or hospitals when our leaders might host guests in a merely excellent house. Bravo making the comfortable even more comfortable, one tax shilling at a time.

As of today, there has been no official appeal to Ukraine regarding the modality of a cessation of hostilities that is being claimed on Russian social media. We believe that human life is far more valuable than any anniversary “celebration”. In this regard, we are announcing a ceasefire regime starting at 00:00 on the night of May 5–6. In the time left until that moment, it is realistic to ensure that silence takes effect. We will act reciprocally starting from that moment. It is time for Russian leaders to take real steps to end their war, especially since Russia’s Defense Ministry believes it cannot hold a parade in Moscow without Ukraine’s goodwill.
Today, our partner, the UAE, was once again the target of a vicious missiles and drone attacks originating from Iran.
I extend my full solidarity to @MohamedBinZayed, the people of the UAE, and our partners across the Middle East.
These attacks are unacceptable and constitute a clear violation of sovereignty and international law.
Security in the region has direct consequences for Europe.
So we will keep working closely with our partners on de-escalation and diplomatic resolution, to bring an end to the Iranian regime’s brutal actions.
Both against its neighbors and its own people.
In April, I sat in a number of boardrooms, forums and the common concern was the Sovereignty Bill 2026. My sense is that, as a country, we are not going to consume our way into prosperity we must produce our way out of poverty. Africa must take agency for its own development.

To think these are the captains steering the country. It’s a tragedy scripted by fools, where every soliloquy on ‘progress’ mocks the audience’s patience.
