STATEMENT BY KENYA EMBASSY RIYADH ON THE POST CIRCULATING IN THE SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORMS ON THE PLIGHT OF SOME KENYAN NATIONALS AT SMASCO
The Embassy of the Republic of Kenya in Riyadh takes note of a video circulating online, alleging neglect and misconduct in assisting Kenyans at Saudi Manpower Solutions Company (SMASCO) accommodation centre. The Embassy wishes to clarify that these claims are unfounded.
SMASCO is a licensed company under the Kingdom of Saudi Arabiaβs Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development, providing support services to domestic workers.
The Embassy maintains structured relations with SMASCO, including weekly visits to ensure the welfare of Kenyan nationals. Additional visits are undertaken when need arises.
Between July 2025 and January 2026, the Embassy facilitated the repatriation of over 2,590 Kenyans from SMASCO and other deportation centres. Urgent cases, including those involving illness or vulnerability, receive immediate attention.
The Embassy will however, as part of the routine visits to SMASCO, verify the alleged claims in the circulating post.
The Embassy reaffirms its commitment to protecting the welfare of all Kenyans in the Kingdom and urges the public to rely on verified information from official sources.
