My biggest nightmare as a broker is what’s happening in the Korean markets right now. The source of my nightmare is the way our MTF book has been growing along with the industry as a whole. In terms of pure risk, MTF is by far the biggest risk we have taken since we started in 2010.
More specifically, the risk lies in our ₹9,000-crore book: at least half of it is in non-F&O stocks, which can hit lower circuits every day without offering an exit.
The problem with Korea is the one-way rally. When markets go up so sharply, leverage builds up because collateral values increase, leading to more borrowing and so on. The second layer of risk comes from the derivatives complex and leveraged ETFs, which further exacerbate moves on both the upside and downside.
When the markets fall, things get really ugly. The first leg of selling tends to be small, but as collateral and margin values drop, margin calls increase, leading to forced selling. Forced unwinding from leveraged ETFs makes this worse, and this downside move becomes a self-reinforcing loop until things stabilize.
Btw, MTF became popular only in the last 3–4 years, and we really haven’t seen a sharp market crash similar to the KOSPI since COVID. Even though MTF as a percentage of market cap is small, if the Indian markets were to fall sharply, it would cause severe sell-offs across many small- and mid-cap stocks. Brokers today typically provide MTF on ~1,500 stocks. 😬
Luckily, thanks to SEBI, we've avoided the worst excesses that typically arise from unchecked leverage.

She was sent to hospice to die. 😔
A 60-something woman from Nebraska. Stage 4 lung cancer. Both lungs. Bones. Inoperable.
Originally diagnosed in 2020. Chemo. Radiation. 18 months of remission.
Then it came back. Aggressive. Metastatic. Everywhere.
She tried Keytruda – didn't work. Then carboplatin and Alimta – toxicity after the first cycle.
Her oncologist said: "There's nothing left."
Hospice. That was the plan.
Her daughter refused to accept that.
She reached out to me. Desperate. Scared. Looking for anything.

ರಾಜಕೀಯ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರ ಇಂದು ಕಲುಷಿತಗೊಂಡಿರುವುದರಿಂದ 2028ರ ವಿಧಾನಸಭಾ ಚುನಾವಣೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ನಾನು ಸ್ಪರ್ಧಿಸುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ಆದರೆ, ಸಕ್ರಿಯ ರಾಜಕಾರಣದಲ್ಲಿದ್ದು, ಜನರ ಕಷ್ಟ, ಸುಖಗಳಿಗೆ ಧ್ವನಿಯಾಗಿ ನಿಲ್ಲುತ್ತೇನೆ.
ಮತ್ತೊಮ್ಮೆ ಚುನಾವಣೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸ್ಪರ್ಧಿಸುವಂತೆ ವರುಣ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರದ ಜನರು ಒತ್ತಾಯಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಆದರೆ ನಾನು ಇನ್ನು ಮುಂದೆ ಯಾವುದೇ ಚುನಾವಣೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸ್ಪರ್ಧಿಸಬಾರದು ಅಂದುಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದೇನೆ. ಈ ಹಿಂದೆ ಚುನಾವಣೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸ್ಪರ್ಧೆ ಮಾಡಿದಾಗ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರದ ಜನರೇ ನಮಗೆ ದುಡ್ಡುಕೊಟ್ಟು ಗೆಲ್ಲಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು ಬರುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು. ಆದರೆ, ಇಂದು ಅಂತಹ ಪರಿಸ್ಥಿತಿ ಇಲ್ಲ.
ಈಗ ನನಗೆ 79 ವರ್ಷ. ನಮ್ಮ ಸರ್ಕಾರದ ಅವಧಿ ಇನ್ನು ಒಂದೂವರೆ ವರ್ಷ ಇದೆ. ಆಗ ನನಗೆ 81-82 ವರ್ಷವಾಗಿರುತ್ತದೆ. ಈಗಿನಂತೆ ಆರೋಗ್ಯವೂ ಸದೃಢವಾಗಿ ಇರುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ಹಿಂದಿನಂತೆ ಉತ್ಸಾಹದಿಂದ ಕೆಲಸ ಮಾಡಲು ಸಾಧ್ಯವಾಗುವುದಿಲ್ಲ.
2028ರ ವೇಳೆಗೆ ನನಗೆ 82 ವರ್ಷವಾಗಿರುತ್ತದೆ. ಆಗ ನನ್ನ ರಾಜಕೀಯ ಜೀವನಕ್ಕೆ 50 ವರ್ಷಗಳು ಪೂರ್ಣಗೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತದೆ. 1978ರಲ್ಲಿ ನಾನು ತಾಲೂಕು ಮಂಡಳಿ ಸದಸ್ಯನಾಗಿ ರಾಜಕೀಯ ಜೀವನ ಆರಂಭಿಸಿದ್ದೆ. ಸೋಲು - ಗೆಲುವು ಎಲ್ಲವನ್ನೂ ಕಂಡಿದ್ದೇನೆ. ಆದರೆ ನಂಬಿದ ಸಿದ್ಧಾಂತಕ್ಕೆ ವಿರುದ್ಧವಾಗಿ ನಡೆದಿಲ್ಲ, ಆತ್ಮಸಾಕ್ಷಿಗೆ ದ್ರೋಹ ಬಗೆದಿಲ್ಲ ಎನ್ನುವ ಸಂತೃಪ್ತಿ ನನಗಿದೆ.
ಚುನಾವಣೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸ್ಪರ್ಧಿಸಿದರೆ ನಾವು ಜನರಿಗೆ ದುಡ್ಡುಕೊಡಬೇಕಾದ ಕಾಲ ಬಂದಿದೆ. ಇಂದು ರಾಜಕಾರಣ ಸಾಕಷ್ಟು ಕಲುಷಿತವಾಗಿದೆ. ಪ್ರಾಮಾಣಿಕ ರಾಜಕಾರಣಕ್ಕೆ ಉಳಿಗಾಲ್ಲವಿಲ್ಲದಂತಾಗಿದೆ. ಈ ಹಿನ್ನೆಲೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಮುಂದಿನ ಚುನಾವಣೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ನಾನು ಸ್ಪರ್ಧಿಸುವುದಿಲ್ಲ ಎನ್ನುವ ನಿರ್ಧಾರಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದಿದ್ದೇನೆ.
ಐದು ದಶಕಗಳ ಕಾಲ ರಾಜ್ಯದ ಜನತೆ ನನ್ನನ್ನು ತಮ್ಮಲ್ಲೊಬ್ಬ ಎಂಬಂತೆ ಕಂಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ, ಪ್ರೀತಿಯಿಂದ ಸಲಹಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಈ ಋಣಭಾರ ನನ್ನ ಮೇಲಿದೆ. ಹೀಗಾಗಿ ನನ್ನ ಮುಂದಿನ ಜೀವನ ಸಹ ಜನಸೇವೆಗೆ ಮುಡಿಪಾಗಿರುತ್ತದೆ.

The internet was busy debating jantar Mantar & a quiet facility in India witnessed something straight out of science fiction. An engine fired up. But it did not hum & it did not roar like a normal jet.
It detonated. Continuous supersonic shockwaves raced around a circular chamber 1000s of times/sec, harnessing controlled explosions to generate thrust.
The startup D-Propulse just gave the world a sneak peek of their air-breathing Rotating Detonation Engine (RDE) with an integrated aerospike nozzle.
Every jet engine on a commercial airliner, every fighter jet & every rocket we have ever seen operates on deflagration. We mix fuel with air/oxygen, ignite it & it burns relatively slowly at subsonic speeds. It is effective, but humanity has pushed this tech to its absolute physical limits.
RDEs throw that century-old playbook into the fire. Instead of burning fuel smoothly, an RDE explodes it intentionally. A continuous detonation wave sweeps around an annular (ring-shaped) channel at supersonic speeds, reaching over 2000 m/s. This is called Pressure-Gain Combustion.
