I'm just insta-blocking the accounts with single-digit & double-digit follower counts now. It just isn't even worth my time to tell them fuck off first anymore.
Amazon axing the new STARGATE series because it was supposedly too niche is such a frustrating executive decision.
This is STARGATE.
The original movie launched in 1994. STARGATE SG-1 ran for 10 seasons. STARGATE ATLANTIS ran for five more. Fans have kept this franchise alive for decades.
Martin Gero, who wrote on SG-1 and ATLANTIS, was developing the new series. Brad Wright and Joe Mallozzi were consulting producers.
People who understood the franchise were involved.
And Amazon apparently got nervous that the show would appeal too much to STARGATE fans.
That is insane.
Die-hard fans are not the problem. They are the bridge.
They tell friends to watch. They explain the premise. They build word of mouth before casual audiences ever show up.
Studios keep wanting legacy IP without the people who actually love it.
But that “baggage” is the audience.
STARGATE does not need to be sanded down for everyone.
It needs to be good enough that fans bring everyone else in.
Don’t get mad at the slow California vote count.
Remember, they have to count all the Republican votes first… so they can figure out exactly how many Democrat votes they need to “find.”
The Expanse went through this with Syfy and the fan backlash was so great, they managed to be picked up by #Amazon and continue the series for another 3 seasons.
If the fan backlash is big enough, they will listen. Get #Stargate trending, let #Amazon know how you feel.
We want what @BaronDestructo and Mr. Gero and everyone involved with the original deal, to be back on the table, and get a green light to start filming, with no oversight or input from your studios and your execs.

I’m gonna simply say this: if you are at all interested in a Stargate show with ANY of the original creators/performers involved, now is the time to say something. Otherwise it really will be the end of that chapter forever. Let them know you are THERE
Hi @AmazonMGMStudio,
Many of us now work in filmmaking because of shows like Stargate SG-1.
It inspired us with its rich lore, believable character interactions, human drama, and its grounded military science fiction setting.
It showed the progress of humanity from its first baby steps through an unknown portal into a space-faring species.
The show was hopeful, human, and naturally diverse.
It showed the world and mankind coming together despite our differences to create something better.
Indeed, that is what the core of Stargate is and always has been.
We are from around the world.
We are men, women, fathers, mothers, grandparents, grandchilren, and proud of the values Stargate has always stood for. It's rare for a franchise that appeals to people across a political divide, but Stargate always has. It has always stood for the message that we are stronger together. These are the fans.
Martin Gero, Joe Mallozzi, Brad Wright, and everyone else involved have had decades to understand this. There is no better team to trust than the ones who've been there with us the longest. It's a symbiotic relationship.
I, and every Stargate fan, urge you to reconsider during this Window of Opportunity. The writing team was in the middle of their backswing during the cancellation announcement. At least let them finish a season.
We are worth taking a chance on!
I'm Emerald May, and I work in visual effects in Atlanta and I'm proud of shows like Stargate SG-1, Atlantis, and Universe that helped steer my career into a place where we make worlds come true.
Thank you.
There needs to be a full investigation into the corruption in the American Fork police department. What the hell. The more I look into this the crazier it gets
Exactly.
You have franchise that has already attracted and kept millions of fans for decades because of what it is.
The idea that the only way to attract new fans to that franchise is to change it into something else is so bereft of basic logic that it shouldn't be seen outside of a mental institution.
And yet, this insane notion continues to be inflicted on once-great properties, turning them into smoldering ruins.
"A small audience" would not have sustained the franchise for 354 episodes across three different series for 14 years straight, nor spawned DVD movies, video games, and fan conventions that continue to this day.
The either-or binary you've created is predicated on the same false premise that has seen numerous juggernaut franchises turned into husks on life support -- the idea that new fans would need something different than that which attracted the original fanbase to the property.
@SpaceshipAddict@Nerdrotics@Variety You could have just... not commented?
Yet here we are.
But yes, I've decided I'm definitely not going to watch it. 😆
