What if satellites could decide for themselves what data really matters for solving problems on Earth?
That’s exactly what SkyServe, a Bengaluru-based startup, is making possible.
Founded by Vinay Simha, Vishesh Vatsal, and Adithya K, the team once worked together at Team Indus on India’s first private lunar rover. Today, they’re reimagining Earth observation with smarter satellites.
Instead of sending back endless raw images (including ones covered by clouds), SkyServe’s satellites can process data onboard — spotting wildfires over Australia, then detecting floods over Chennai, all in real time.
Their target users?
Governments managing disaster response and commercial players in insurance, maritime, and emergency monitoring — all of whom need insights in minutes, not days.
As Vishesh (Co-Founder & CTO) puts it:
“Every bit of power, memory and storage must be accounted for. The balance of efficiency and performance is critical to making edge AI in space both practical and scalable.”
SkyServe is already working with satellite operators, scaling revenue, and pushing India’s space-tech ecosystem forward. The future? Smarter, faster, more collaborative space infrastructure.

From detecting wildfires to optimising bandwidth, AI-powered satellites could redefine how we connect space and Earth.
