The next generation of sleep technology is here. We made the most accurate sleep tracking system that doesn't just track your sleep, it improves your sleep.
We’re giving away free stuff to test if breathing can improve your sleep.
Seriously.
We’re running a small 3-week experiment on:
• nasal breathing during sleep
• simple breathing exercises

I'm excited to announce a new @SleepSpaceApp feature designed to optimize your naturally occurring circadian rhythm. Consistent sleep is one of the best ways to improve health outcomes and this feature will push you to achieve more regular sleep.

Two weeks of 30 minutes of nighttime electronic device restriction and 20 minutes of morning bright-light exposure improved mood and some performance parameters among elite athletes.
🚀 Announcing the launch of a new, innovative product: the SleepSpace Phone
Phones are often the culprit behind poor sleep — delaying melatonin, keeping our brains alert, and disrupting our rest with endless notifications.
But what if your phone could actually help you sleep?
That’s the idea behind the SleepSpace Phone, a clinically inspired system that turns your smartphone into a tool for better rest.
Every night, your brain performs vital work: repairing cells, clearing toxins, and strengthening memory. Poor sleep disrupts those processes, affecting everything from focus and mood to long-term brain health.
That’s why the National Institute on Aging (NIA) — part of the NIH — awarded SleepSpace a federal research grant to study a bold idea: Can technology be redesigned to actively improve sleep — not harm it?
The SleepSpace Phone is our answer. It’s a dedicated sleep-only phone that separates your work life from your rest life, helping you fall asleep faster, stay asleep longer, and wake up more refreshed.
✅ Automatically switches to Airplane Mode at night
✅ Blocks notifications and distracting apps
✅ Plays adaptive deep sleep sounds and meditations
✅ Tracks sleep and snoring effortlessly
✅ Wakes you gently with a circadian sunrise alarm
✅ Solve for you or your client's phone addiction
This is more than a tracker — it’s a behavior change system that retrains your relationship with technology and supports your body’s natural rhythms.
When you preorder, you’re not just buying a device — you’re joining citizen science, helping validate a new potential class of FDA-level digital therapeutics.

Waking up every morning feeling foggy, exhausted, and unrested?
Snoring could be more than just a nuisance—it might be a sign of a serious underlying condition. ⚠️
For @DanGartenberg, he experiences five instances every hour where his breathing stops—this is a key indicator of sleep apnea, a condition that affects millions of people but often goes undiagnosed.
When your breathing repeatedly stops and starts throughout the night, your body never enters the deep, restorative stages of sleep. 😴
This disruption can leave you feeling drained, impact cognitive function, and even increase your risk for heart disease, high blood pressure, and other health conditions.
If you’ve been struggling with poor sleep or suspect sleep apnea might be behind your fatigue, this is your chance to get real answers. 🛏️
Join us this Friday, April 18th, at 8:30 AM PT for a LIVE session with Dr. Dan, where he’ll dive into the science of sleep, sleep apnea, and the steps you can take to improve your nightly rest.

I'm happy to introduce the most holistic solution for sleep health that addresses breathing health, cognitive-behavioral factors, and stress and anxiety. It includes and FDA cleared sleep apnea test with a virtual MD!

Do you know what the most important variable for sleep health is?
The answer is ensuring the you are not sleep deprived. It is also important to understand that better sleep quality and a stronger circadian rhythm are key factors that can reduce the likelihood of being sleep deprived.
Sleep deprivation has been linked to:
❌ Daytime fatigue
❌ Increased likelihood of every chronic disease (cancer, heart disease, etc)
❌ Inability to to make clear decisions
❌ Brain cannot clear harmful toxins (metabolic waste and beta amyloid)
❌ Even a worse sense of humor!
This is why we just release a new sleep debt feature in SleepSpace!
@SleepSpaceApp now calculate sleep debt more closely and displays your daily energy levels using something called the 3-Process Model of Sleep (pictured below).
Ironically, your phone is both the ultimate source of sleep tracking and improvement technology, and one of the main reasons that people struggle with their sleep.
This is why we invented the SmartSheet, which can work with your old iPhone that is laying around your junk drawer - or a refurbished iPhone included with the purchase of this premium sheet solution.
Having a phone solely focused on your health and another one for your work/life is the key to unlocking your full sleep potential. We call this a ‘health phone.’ While you can also use your current smart phone with the SmartSheet, we recommend making the full break from your work device to reduce stress and blue light exposure at night. Other benefits of having a dedicated phone that integrates with the SmartSheet is voice activation of sounds and light, in addition to 24/7 tracking without having to open up a device at night with disruptive blue light hues.
Be an early adopter of this game changing sleep technology by supporting our Kickstarter !

It has been 15-years in the making and we have now gone fully beyond sleep tracking...

I was an early adopter of @biostrap back in 2017 and have been following the technology ever since. The new version of the tech, called Kairos, blew me away, so I decided to team up with Sameer Sontakey, Biostrap CEO, to bring this advanced sleep detection and enhancement system to the market. This is the most versatile and accurate wearable available. What makes it so unique is that it is powered by 100s of unique algorithms and can drive personalized experiences to its users. After 20 years of wearables and sleep trackers, we are now finally ready to go beyond simply sleep tracking. What's more is that it seamlessly integrates with my SleepSpace technology, which is based on proven cognitive behavioral therapy interventions. This next generation sleep tracker is an iteration above leading competitors like Apple Watch, Whoop, and Oura. Check out the link to try out the Biostrap platform yourself and learn more!

The results are in on our team's Randomized Controlled Trial (RTC) that explores a new way to augment conventional Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBTi) administered by a therapist. In this study, we demonstrate improved outcomes when a therapist uses the system we developed on key sleep and adherence metrics. The work was accepted at the @ResearchSleep Society annual conference (APSS) and was distinguished by being selected for a presentation. The presentation will be given by our amazing collaborator Margeaux Gray. If you are attending the conference, please check it out and join the conversation!
Here's what we did.
We created a novel IoT intervention designed to increase adherence to CBTi directives. For example, lights and sounds adjusted in people's homes in order to increase adherence to a prescribed bedtime and wake time. Meditations and relevant digital content were also made available on the platform - in addition to the consensus sleep diary. Data was collected from nearable and wearable devices (apple watch) and could be shared with a therapist. This helped hold participant's accountable for their behaviors. Aspects of this system are currently available in the @SleepSpaceApp.
The full publication is still pending, with additional results on blood-based biomarkers and actigraphy. But you can check out some of our key results here:

If you are a doctor, dentist, coach, or sleep health enthusiast interested in using components of the system that we developed, please reach out to me. I'd love to give you a tutorial of how it all works and get your feedback. Note that the developed system is not meant as a treatment for insomnia, but a tool to promote sleep health.
Thank you so much for the research and engineering team that made this all possible.
