Earlier today, Mr. John Ehidreme, 56, was arrested for illegally dumping refuse into a drainage channel at No. 18 Oluoga, Ikorodu.

The Lagos State Government reiterates that indiscriminate waste disposal is a violation of environmental laws, as it obstructs drainage channels, contributes to flooding, and poses significant public health and environmental risks.

Residents are urged to dispose of waste responsibly and use only approved waste management facilities.

One of the rescued Oyo schoolchildren has been diagnosed with a congenital heart defect (a hole in the heart) after routine medical checks at LAUTECH Teaching Hospital.

Doctors say the child’s parents were unaware of the condition.

Meanwhile, 31 of the 39 rescued pupils have been discharged and re-united with their parents, while eight remain under medical observation.

Sometimes, even in the aftermath of tragedy, hidden battles come to light. Wishing every one of these children a complete recovery.

A doctor reportedly kept a newborn infant alive by manually using an AMBU bag from 11:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m., refusing to give up even after others had lost hope. LET'S SPEAK THE TRUTH AGAIN

The rescue of 44 captives in Oyo State was not a miracle. It was the result of community cooperation. Residents refused to shield the abductors, provided intelligence, and trusted the military. That made the operation possible.

Northerners are now demanding the same success in their regions and they deserve it. But here is the hard truth:

In many parts of the North, military operations have been stalled not by lack of capacity, but by individuals protecting the k!dn@pp£rs for personal gain. Informants leak intelligence. Local leaders shield cr!m!nals. Communities turn a blind eye.

You cannot demand a successful rescue when you are feeding the k!dn@pp£rs' networks.

The Oyo rescue happened because the community refused to cooperate with the abductors. The military had actionable intelligence, local support, and a clear target. That is the formula.

If Northern communities want the same outcome, they must give the same cooperation.

♦️ STOP PROTECTING KIDNAPPERS.
♦️ PROVIDE CREDIBLE INTELLIGENCE.
♦️ REFUSE TO HARBOUR CRIMINALS.
♦️ TRUST THE SECURITY FORCES.

The President has given a directive to rescue every captive. But the military cannot rescue people it cannot find. And it cannot find them without community support.

The ball is now in the court of our Northern leaders and communities.

COOPERATE. OR CONTINUE TO WATCH YOUR CHILDREN REMAIN IN CAPTIVITY.

Yesterday, July 10, 2026, marked 27 years since George Iwilade, popularly known as Afrika, a vibrant, brilliant, and courageous student leader and Secretary-General of the Students' Union Government of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, was murdered by cult gangs sponsored by the university authorities.

Since his brutal killing on July 10, 1999, Afrika has grown from a fallen comrade into a timeless legend of the Nigerian student movement. His courage, conviction, and sacrifice continue to inspire generations of young people committed to justice and liberation.

For context, this photograph was taken during one of our solidarity actions in Yaba, Lagos, protesting the persecution of OAU students. Standing together were Afrika, then OAU SUG President Lanre Adeleke aka "Legacy", and my humble self as we unfurled a giant banner inside a massive police cordon in defiance of intimidation.

Afrika and I shared many struggles before I left Nigeria in February 1999. His life was cut short, but his ideals could not be buried. Twenty-seven years later, we still remember him not merely for how he died, but for how he lived: fearless, principled, and unwavering in pursuing justice.

This is a young medical doctor called Dr Innocent. He’s working as a house officer at the Nigerian Navy Reference Hospital in Calabar, Cross River State.

Dr Innocent and his other doctor colleagues who are also house officers have NOT been paid for 290 days.

Yes you read that right.
A whole 290 days of working as a medical doctor with ZERO pay. That’s about 10 months work with NO pay.

According to Dr Innocent,
The Ministry of Defence has refused to pay their salaries for no reason. This young medical doctors are being worked like slaves while receiving ZERO pay.

They have nobody to speak for them.
They have nobody to fight for them.
They are suffering and dying in silence.
