@Maks_NAFO_FELLA "As a result, ships without GPS cannot navigate the sea." - have you heard of a thing called a 'compass'? Has worked perfectly well for hundreds of years....
@DJ_Dunewolf@DJSnM The entire point of being a pilot is ensuring your fuel never gets too low so that you can't land at an alternate airport... Otherwise, bad things tend to happen, your licence gets pulled, and you need to make a large insurance claim. You can't just pull off the highway and park
Giving up means going somewhere else. I had the same issue years ago to a very short and narrow strip in Scotland with a huge balloon and then windshear coming over trees at the end of the runway. I got it down on the 3rd attempt otherwise would have gone to my alternate for a strong coffee!!
@deanerimerman@DJSnM Even with out GPS (which you don't technically need anyway) the rest of the instruments would have worked just fine. The GPS jamming was NOTAM'd according to the article, so shouldn't have been a contributary cause.
@deanerimerman@DJSnM The part that needs the reasonable explanation is how the pilots couldn't navigate to the airport properly without GPS. They were visual with the runway, so how did they hit the mountain?
@OldRoberts953 Another year before the report even comes back (1 year early granted). I'll wait until he has something concrete to show other than vibes, but at least he's fronting up on it. Still waiting on welfare and immigration policies though.
@SadButMadLad@Fatbaldbloke1@ProcterGamble Since Heinz changed the sausages they're mostly water now - terrible. Aldi's are better, but still subject to the odd 7/8 issue.
